Job Description

Position: LEAD BEHAVIORAL SUPPORT FACILITATOR

Department: Student Services

Program: Special Education

Reports to: Building Administrator

Classification: Classified Represented

Days/Hours: 190 Days /8 Hours Per Day

Salary Range: 14

Interview Timeline:Beginning interviews on September 16th 2025

POSITION PURPOSE:

A lead behavior support facilitator under the direction of the behavior consultant and school administrator will lead and guide the implementation of behavioral and instructional support plans in Special Education classrooms and throughout the building and or program. The Lead will monitor and report student behavior and performance and provide support and assistance to classroom staff. They will provide daily guidance schedule various meetings and lead the work for the Behavior Support Facilitators.



NATURE & SCOPE:

This position is subject to board policies administrative rules and procedures department regulations and applicable State and Federal statutes. This position carries no administrative or supervisory authority or responsibility.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Audit Seclusion and Restraint Interventions Positive Behavior Support Plans and lead classroom debriefs
  2. Assist Behavior Support Facilitators and Educational Assistants in the preparation and adaptation of instructional or behavioral materials for the purpose of providing activities and materials that facilitate student learning and performance.
  3. Assist students by using behavioral strategies and interventions for the purpose of teaching appropriate social behaviors in accordance with students social and behavioral targeted learning goals.
  4. Assist students in groups or on an individual basis with specific behavioral strategies instructional tasks and/or specific student goals for the purpose of accommodating their development and growth.
  5. Assist students with adaptive and self-care needs as required for the purpose of maximizing their independence and assimilation within the school environment.
  6. Conduct Safety-Care training and recertification for MESD staff
  7. Perform any delegated health procedures processes or duties as deemed appropriate from a health professional (UAP - Unlicensed Assistive Personnel).
  8. Communicates with teachers and other members of the instructional team regarding students daily progress for the purpose of assessing students progress either instructionally or behaviorally.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Program Supervisor or which are indicated to assure the physical and emotional well-being of students.
  • Work is performed in special education environment. Work may involve implementing crisis prevention/intervention protocols.



KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • If assigned to a classroom requiring lifting must be able to lift up to 60-70 lbs. according to established procedures. Exact lifting requirements will vary based upon classroom assignments.
  • Valid First Aid and CPR card.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS SKILLS ABILITIES:

  • Ability to lead a team in making sound emergency or crisis decisions and effectively working with students in a high stress environment
  • Knowledge and practice of evidence-based behavior and learning strategies
  • Knowledge and experience with Seclusion and Restraint Interventions Positive Behavior Support Plans and Individualized Education Programs
  • Ability to comprehend interpret and model implementation of Seclusion and Restraint Interventions Positive Behavior Support Plans and Individualized Education Programs
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with student staff and parents
  • Ability to exercise careful judgment diplomacy and tact in the performance of all duties
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to follow directions follow through on classroom plans and maintain effective working relationships with MESD staff and local school district personnel and other agency partners
  • Ability to perform data collection and recording of tasks and/or behavior
  • Skilled and proficient in Google Workspace Excel Word and other student databases
  • Valid drivers license available for possible on the job use.
  • Experience training and or education in Applied Behavior Analysis or positive behavior support strategies
  • Successful Completion of Safety-Care Training
  • Daily and consistent attendance and punctuality

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS SKILLS ABILITIES:

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. and a minimum of 2 years experience working with youth adolescents or young adults with behavior and/or mental health issues and challenging behaviors. Experience and/or training in Applied Bheaivor Analysis or positive behavior support strategies is preferred. Completion of post high school courses in Psychology Child Development Special Education Behavioral Health or related field is desirable.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Work is performed in special education or alternative education environments. Work may involve implementing crisis prevention/intervention protocols and may involve a risk of injury exposure to contagious diseases verbally and physically hostile students and other adverse conditions.
