Department Overview

Family Medicine at South Waterfront is a community based clinic offering primary care and specialty services for all types of patients. We treat everyone--babies children adolescents adults (including moms-to-be) and seniors. Our services include maternity care (including deliveries) womens reproductive health behavioral health care and counseling transgender care pediatric care travel immunizations podiatry sports medicine acupuncture minor procedures and health maintenance with preventive care. Between 200 and 275 patients are seen per day by our 40 plus providers assisted by 60 plus staff members.

The key duties of the Resource RN include phone triage managing nurse visit schedules anticipating patient needs and providing clinical support within ambulatory workflows. The RN advocates for patients and families ensures efficient safe and cost-effective care acts as a liaison between referral and clinic providers and participates in interdisciplinary teams and clinic operations aligned position descriptions expectations. This may include active care coordination and management of a high-risk ambulatory patient panel.

Function/Duties of Position

The OHSU Clinical registered nurse (RN) provides compassionate evidence-based and efficient care to individuals families communities and patient populations. The Clinical RNs care delivery is consistent with the Oregon Nurse Practice Act the ANA Scope and Standards of Practice and the ANA Code of Ethics. The Clinical RN demonstrates the professional role obligations of scientist leader and knowledge transferor Onsomble Model of the Professional Role. Professional accountability enriches the Clinical RNs engagement as a leader in promoting an inter-professional culture of collaborative decision-making innovation life-long learning and teamwork. The Clinical RN exemplifies the principles of a Culture of Safety by committing to a Just Culture a Reporting Culture a Learning Culture and an Engaged Informed Culture.

Required Qualifications

  • 2 years of RN experience within the last 5 years
  • Associate or Bachelors Degree in Nursing from a program accredited by Commission of Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (CNEA)
  • Associates Degree Nurses required to enroll in BSN program within 3 years of hire and complete within 5 years of hire
  • Current unencumbered Oregon RN License
  • Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association required at time of hire - must not expire during orientation
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without accomodation

Preferred Qualifications

  • Current clinical nurse experience in an ambulatory care setting including telephone triage.
  • Experience working in Primary Care setting within the last three years.
  • Nursing professional certification in Ambulatory Nursing.
