Math OlympiadAdvisor
Overview
Teachers are needed to lead students in exploring and experiencing problem solving techniques and solving complex math problems. The Math Olympiad will feature a once/month national competition administered during after school sessions. Each student participating receives an award at the end of the year.
Applicants must be Massachusetts licensed in the field listed and highly qualified in terms of subject matter knowledge and familiarity with the best practices in instruction for all students the state curriculum frameworks grade level benchmarks a variety of assessment strategies and techniques and must exhibit effective interpersonal skills.
Focus of the Program
This program will be open to nominated students in Grades 4 - 8.
Terms of Employment
Advertising the program to students (grades 4-8); communicating with principal and parents; and selecting the group
Groups may not be smaller than 8 students without prior approval Each advisor will meet once a week for one hour after school with students Meeting day will be determined by the advisor and the school principal Advisor/coach will meet for a total of 16 after school sessions beginning in
October and ending in March (meetings do not need to run consecutive weeks)
Each advisor/coach is responsible for submitting a completed Enrollment form by October 31 2023
Each coach must keep an attendance log for each group meeting
Salary
A total stipend of $783.
