Quality Assurance Manager
The Quality Assurance Manager reports to the Senior Director Nuclear Quality and Continuous Improvement (QA&CI). This position is responsible for the management of the Quality Assurance and Quality Control activities of TerraPowers advanced reactor programs. The ideal candidate will have QA management experience in both DOE 10 CFR 830 (subpart A) / DOE O 414.1D and NRC 10 CFR 50 Appendix B regulated environments. Successful candidate should be an NQA-1 Certified Lead Auditor (ATL) and have extensive experience with evaluation and qualification of NQA-1 Suppliers and commercial supply chain experience. The ideal candidate will also have extensive experience applying a graded approach to quality in environments ranging from conceptual design using collaborative environments to safety related design and construction supporting PSAR and construction permits. Experience with industry codes standards and guides such as ASME AWS AISC ASTM EPRI NEI ISO NEC and IEEE are strongly desired.
Responsibilities
Review of customer and regulatory contracts and develop baseline requirements matrix/documents.
Manage team of QA/QC personnel providing direction and guidance to the project team.
Responsible for the review of internal and external design drawings specifications test plans/procedures and other technical documents for quality assurance requirements using a graded approach to quality when applicable.
Evaluate and qualify (audit/CGD) suppliers and partners.
Plan and perform internal and external (supplier) audits and surveillances.
Plan and perform commercial grade item (CGD) surveys of commercial suppliers.
Understand the process for Qualification of Existing Data in accordance with NQAPart IV Subpart 4.2.3 guidance.
Coordinate and host Customer and Regulator audits surveillances and visits.
Travel as required to construction sites customer sites and other locations.
Review and revise QA processes and procedures.
Keep Senior Management regularly informed of the status of the QA activities.
Knowledge and participation of Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA) Continuous Improvement Lessons Learned/Operational Experience and Risk Management processes.
Mentor and train prospective Lead Auditors and other QA personnel for qualification.
Review quality affecting procedures (engineering procurement document control records testing etc.).
Review procurement specifications purchase orders contracts task orders and agreements and flow-down applicable quality assurance requirements in Orders/Contracts.
Qualifications
B.S. degree in a technical discipline business management or quality assurance field; or equivalent experience.
12 years experience in a Quality Assurance function with 5 years as a Manager in a nuclear (NRC DOE) Quality Assurance function preferred or in a regulated environment such as EPA aerospace or similar industries.
Current certification as NQA-1 Lead Auditor or other industry recognized certification or the ability to be certified within one year of hire.
Experience successfully managing and leading a team of technical QA professionals.
Military experience is a plus.

*Typically our employee salaries are within .90 1.0 of the mid-point of the posted salary band. Any salary offered within the posted salary band is based on market data and commensurate with the selected individuals qualifications and experience. This range is specific to Washington State.
