Moran Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources Subject: Teacher Coordinators (7) - Discovering Justice After-school Program 6-8 The following position is being advertised for the 2025-2026 school year: Through the Civics Teaching and Learning Grant funding is available for 1 educator per middle school (North South East West Ashfield Plouffe and Davis) to serve as a Coordinator for an afterschool program in partnership with Discovering Justice and the Brockton District Court. This program provides high quality civics education to help students examine the workings of the justice system explore justice ideals and prepare them to engage in democracy. Qualifications Certified staff member at the identified school (North South East West Ashfield Plouffe and Davis) Strong Communication and Organizational skills Commitment and ability to meet the Coordinator Responsibilities outlined below: Responsibilities Teacher Coordinators are vital to the success of the Discovering Justice (DJ) program. The Teacher Coordinators communicate directly with the key stakeholders: Discovering Justice the legal mentor volunteers students families and the school itself. Recruit a team of 8-12 students in the fall and 8-12 students in the spring. Attend one Teacher Coordinator orientation session prior to each semester with an agreed upon date the week of September 16-:30 5:00 and January 19-23 2026) Administrative Keep roster legal mentors and DJ (Discovering Justice) up to date with any student participant changes. Record weekly student attendance on shared Google Drive documents. Ensure consistent student attendance and commitment to the program. Work with students who must miss a session to catch up. Provide feedback to Discovering Justice to help inform and improve the program. Work with school administrators to arrange transportation for in-person visits to the law firm and/or courthouse. Program Facilitation Attend 9 weekly sessions and support legal mentors in teaching and learning. Attend the Mock Trial Culminating Event at a federal or community courthouse and help recruit families and colleagues to attend. Communication Communicate regularly with students any program related updates reminders etc. Communicate regularly with participating students families to ensure clarity around commitment logistics and expectations. Communicate any issues or feedback to DJ staff ASAP to help address concerns. Partner Collaboration Work with legal mentors to develop an individualized model: establish where and when the sessions will take place and how participants will get to the agreed-upon venue. Partner and communicate with your students Legal Mentors to establish a relationship share contact info coordinate logistics such as technology and problem solve issues as they arrive such as scheduling or student specific needs. Compensation $1000.00 Stipend per semester to cover the following EACH SEMESTER: Ten 90-minute sessions; One 90-minute Teacher Orientation /Training session; Outside of session administrative work; and the Culminating Event (4 hours) approximately 28 hours/semester.
