Job Description

Overview:

The Center for Research Innovation & Creative Engagement (RICE Center) fosters inclusive high-impact research and creative experiences for students-especially those from underrepresented backgrounds. Through mentorship equity-centered practices and innovation we empower students to lead in their academic and professional journeys.

Were seeking a responsible creative and organized student worker to support the RICE Centers operations. This role is ideal for someone interested in marketing social media equity work and gaining behind-the-scenes experience in campus programming.

Length of Employment: September 2025 to May 2026 with opportunity to renew.

Hours Available: 1015 hours per week (flexible around class schedule). Must be available to work on-site hours during RICE Center open times.

Schedule Flexibility: There is flexibility around class schedule. Students are expected to commit to their agreed upon work schedule.

Tasks Duties and Responsibilities (TDRs) and Learning Outcomes:

Complete required onboarding training for the RICE Center

Perform accepted assignments as described in the terms outlined by supervisor

Manage and update RICE Center social media accounts (Instagram Twitter/X etc.)

CM & EI

Design and distribute flyers posters and other promotional materials

CM

Maintain regular office hours in the RICE Center to support students and guests

PF & EI

Help schedule meetings events and manage the RICE Center calendar

TC

Inventory track and restock snacks paperware office supplies and other center needs

TW

Assist with event setup and logistics as needed

Participate in weekly check-ins with supervisor

Candidate Qualifications (Knowledge Skills and Other Abilities or KSOAs)

Qualified candidates will have the following competencies and skills:

  • Must be a current Oakton College student (enrolled in at least 6 credit hours) for the Fall and Spring semesters.
  • Eligible to work in the United States.
  • Must have an overall GPA of 2.0 or higher and be in good standing at Oakton College.
  • Exceptional communication and organizational skills with an eye for attention to detail.
  • Experience with or interest in social media and basic graphic design (Canva etc.).
  • Proficiency and experience using Microsoft Office and Google technology (GSUITE).
  • Dependable detail-oriented friendly courteous and collaborative. Punctuality is a must.
  • Commitment to the RICE Centers values of equity inclusion and student empowerment.
