The Director of Training directs the design planning and implementation of all training programs and activities that align with the objectives and strategies of the organization. The Director collaborates with CCADV Directors to assess ongoing and future training needs as well as the overall effectiveness of CCADV trainings and develops engaging communications with member organizations and other interested parties to promote all training addition the Director of Training works with CCADV member program community educators.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Training
- Provide leadership and oversight regarding the on-going development of CCADVs Training Institute.
- Facilitate the coordination of in person and virtual trainings workshops and speaking engagements
- Manage all CCADV training contracts.
- Facilitate training on domestic violence and related subject matter.
- Train CCADV new hires as needed.
- Work collaboratively with governmental and non-governmental agencies to provide trainings.
- Work with the VP of Programs Director of Member Programs and membership to identify on-going training and resource needs of member organizations.
- Work with the Managing Director of CT Safe Connect to identify the on-going training and resource needs of CT Safe Connect Advocacy Coordinators.
- Determine the training needs of other Connecticut stakeholders to build the capacity of Connecticuts response to victims of domestic violence.
- Complete applications for continuing education credits for training participants.
- Reports annually on the efficacy of the Training Institute.
- Oversee the training registration and marketing of the Training Institute.
Other Activities
- Work collaboratively with other CCADV staff and actively participate in the daily operations of CCADV.
- Work collaboratively with member programs and build strong positive relationships.

- Adapt to changing job priorities in CCADVs needs. Remains open to new ideas and developing new skills as needed.

- Support CCADVs management and its Board of Directors.
- Generate innovative solutions by drawing upon diverse sources (individuals disciplines bodies of knowledge) for ideas and inspiration.
- Make referrals to appropriate CCADV staff or other resources to ensure that requests for technical assistance and/or training are appropriately and adequately met.
- Travel as required.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
- Bachelors degree in Social Work Human Services or a related field
- 3 years of experience in research planning and program development preferably involving gender-based violence.
- Strong organizational communication training public speaking and writing skills that allow for working with diverse individuals and stakeholders.
- The ability to think expansively and generate solutions by drawing upon varied sources making linkages between seemingly disparate concepts and combining ideas in new and innovative ways.
- Verbal and written fluency in English and Spanish preferred. Bilingual individuals of other growing culturally specific communities within Connecticut are also encouraged to apply.
- Self-motivated and independent with the ability to manage time and multiple projects and collaborate effectively with a team.
- Flexibility to travel reliable transportation and valid drivers license.
- Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to CCADVs mission as well as understanding of issues related to domestic violence.
- Experience in the use of word processing database and spreadsheet software (Microsoft Word Excel).
- Experience in the use of virtual training platforms such as Zoom Microsoft Teams and GoToMeeting/Training.
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
- Ability to address various office needs of light to medium physical effort lifting and moving boxes occasionally up to 50lbs.
- Ongoing compliance with federal funding requirements including successful completion of background checks and drug screens.
- Follow organization health and safety protocol requirements.
- Sound judgement and strong critical thinking skills.
- Initiative to accomplish tasks that drive the organization forward.
