Buildings University (BU) was created to foster the technical professional and career development of Buildings employees. BUs goal is to cultivate professional employees who are knowledgeable creative and credible. BU provides Department of Buildings employees with the tools they need to succeed by offering intensive training including various certifications satisfaction of required continuing education credits for licensed professionals employee development career counseling and integrity training. BU is also responsible for overseeing training providers in the industry including in accordance with Local Law 196 of 2017 which requires workers and supervisors at construction sites receive construction site safety training.
Under direction:
-Maintains administrative workflow and develops reporting procedures.
Creates and revises systems and procedures by analyzing operating practices; and implementing changes.
-Provides information on the Departments training opportunities
-Resolves administrative problems by analyzing information; identifying and communicating solutions.
-Maintains rapport with customers managers and employees by setting priorities and resolving problem situations.
-Provides information by answering questions and requests.
-Maintains continuity of work operations by documenting and communicating needed actions to management; discovering irregularities; determining continuing needs
-Develops reports on training course providers and other data related to Buildings University
-Coordinates courses provider program including but not limited to application intake communication with providers and potential providers quality assurance on accreditation documentation tracking provider status maintaining approved provider list assigning and tracking audits to be performed by the Office of the Building Marshal
-Provides administrative assistance to unit managers
-Project manages ad hoc training requests
REMOTE WORK
This position may be eligible for remote work up to 2 days per week pursuant to the Remote Work Pilot Program.
CIVIL SERVICE STATUS
Only permanent Principal Administrative Associate applicants who are reachable on the Principal Administrative Associate open competitive list and applicants as indicated below will be considered.
Candidates who are permanent in comparable civil service titles may be considered for title change under rule 6.1.9 of the Personnel Rules and Regulations of the City of New York.
PRINCIPAL ADMINISTRATIVE ASSOC - 10124
Qualifications :
1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and three years of satisfactory full-time progressively responsible clerical/administrative experience one year of which must have been in an administrative capacity or supervising staff performing clerical/administrative work of more than moderate difficulty; or
2. An associate degree or 60 semester credits from an accredited college and four years of satisfactory full-time progressively responsible clerical/administrative experience including one year of the administrative supervisory experience described in 1 above; or
3. A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a States department of education or a recognized accrediting organization and five years of satisfactory full-time progressively responsible clerical/administrative experience including one year of the administrative supervisory experience as described in 1 above;
4. Education and/or experience equivalent to 1 2 or 3 above. However all candidates must possess the one year of administrative or supervisory experience as described in 1 above. Education above the high school level may be substituted for the general clerical/administrative experience (but not for the one year of administrative or supervisory experience described in 1 above) at a rate of 30 semester credits from an accredited college for 6 months of experience up to a maximum of 3 years.
