Job Description

Position Summary...

This role is responsible for strategically leading and optimizing the flow of inventory throughout the supply chain to maximize product availability minimize costs and achieve financial targets. The Vice President will oversee critical functions related to inventory planning demand forecasting and replenishment ensuring efficient movement of goods from suppliers through distribution channels to meet customer demand. This role is accountable for key inventory performance metrics driving continuous improvement within the inventory ecosystem and influencing cross-functional partners to enhance operational efficiency and profitability.

What youll do...

Key Priorities:

1. Lead Inventory Planning & Optimization Strategy Sets the strategic direction for how inventory is planned managed and optimized within the supply chain across various channels or product categories.

Tangible Deliverables:
Annual and Seasonal Inventory Plans: Develop and oversee the creation of strategic inventory plans (e.g. open-to-buy seasonal buy plans) that align with financial targets (sales margin turn) and customer service goals.
Forecasting & Demand Planning Excellence: Champion advanced forecasting methodologies and tools ensuring high accuracy in demand predictions to optimize inventory levels and reduce excess or out-of-stock situations.
Inventory Level Optimization: Strategically manage inventory levels across the network (stores DCs e-commerce) to balance service levels with working capital efficiency. Implement strategies to improve inventory turns and reduce carrying costs.
Replenishment Strategy: Define and evolve the replenishment strategies (e.g. push vs. pull automated replenishment rules) to ensure timely and efficient product flow to points of sale or fulfillment centers.
Business Impact:
Optimized Working Capital: Directly impact the balance sheet by minimizing excess inventory and improving inventory turns freeing up capital.
Enhanced In-Stock Performance: Improve product availability for customers leading to increased sales and customer satisfaction.
Reduced Markdown/Obsolescence: Minimize losses from clearance markdowns and obsolete inventory through effective planning and flow management.

2. Drive Operational Excellence & Process Improvement in Inventory Flow - Improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the end-to-end inventory flow processes.

Tangible Deliverables:
Process Standardization & Enhancement: Identify analyze and lead initiatives to standardize and improve key inventory flow processes from inbound logistics and receiving to allocation and store fulfillment.
Technology & Tool Adoption: Lead the evaluation adoption and optimization of inventory planning forecasting and visualization tools and systems ensuring they effectively support operational needs and strategic objectives. This includes influencing IT/Transformation roadmaps relevant to inventory.
Performance Measurement & Reporting: Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for inventory flow and planning effectiveness (e.g. forecast accuracy in-stock rates fill rates inventory turns) providing regular performance reports and insights.
Cross-Functional Alignment & Collaboration: Foster strong partnerships with Merchandising Supply Chain Operations Store Operations and Finance teams to ensure seamless inventory flow resolve operational bottlenecks and align on shared goals.
Business Impact:
Increased Operational Efficiency: Streamline inventory processes reducing manual effort lead times and associated operational costs.
Improved Supply Chain Responsiveness: Enhance the ability to react quickly to changes in demand or supply minimizing disruptions and maximizing sales opportunities.
Better Data-Driven Decisions: Ensure the availability of accurate and timely inventory data to support effective decision-making across the supply chain.

3. Build & Develop a High-Performing Inventory Team - Lead mentor and develop the team responsible for inventory planning and flow.

Tangible Deliverables:
Team Leadership & Development: Recruit mentor and develop a high-performing team of inventory planners analysts and managers fostering a culture of continuous learning accountability and excellence.
Talent Strategy: Develop and implement strategies for talent attraction retention and succession planning within the inventory planning and flow function.
Performance Management: Set clear goals and expectations for the team provide regular feedback and conduct performance reviews to drive individual and team growth.
Change Adoption: Lead the team through process and technology changes ensuring understanding buy-in and successful adoption of new ways of working.
Business Impact:
Stronger Functional Capabilities: Ensure the organization has the necessary talent and expertise to effectively manage and optimize inventory.
Increased Employee Engagement & Productivity: Foster an environment that attracts and retains top talent leading to higher morale and productivity.

The annual salary range for this position is $225000.00-$500000.00

Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.

Minimum Qualifications...

10 years leadership experience in retail operations or related field.
