Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree or equivalent in geography biogeochemistry environmental sciences artificial intelligence remote sensing or a related discipline. They should demonstrate (i) practical experience and interest in biogeochemical modelling of the aquatic carbon cycle and greenhouse carbon emissions i.e. models that aim to represent processes and quantify the fluxes of carbon between terrestrial biosphere atmosphere and aquatic ecosystems; (ii) computer programming skills remote sensing and image processing skills and knowledge of artificial intelligence techniques for spatiotemporal analysis. Experience in biogeochemical modelling (including simple coding in Python Fortran R or other high-level languages) and quantitative remote sensing is required; (iii) a good physical understanding of terrestrial and aquatic carbon cycle. An interest or experience in field or laboratory studies of some aspects of the carbon cycle is desirable; and (iv) a strong track record of high-quality research as indicated by publications.
The appointee will undertake research in the following topics such as aquatic carbon export assessment of greenhouse gas emission from inland waters and coastal ecosystems future carbon cycle modelling and sensitivity analysis for climate change.
