PAI is a nonprofit civil society organization based in Washington D.C. Founded almost 60 years ago we work to advance sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) for all people through U.S. and global advocacy partnerships with multisectoral institutions and the funding of community-based organizations across Africa Asia Latin America and the Caribbean.

About the Role:
Under the direction of the Senior Director of Individual Giving the Development Coordinator will play an important role in supporting the organizations fundraising efforts as well as key functions of donor lifecycle with the Development Team.
Specifically the Development Coordinator will manage gift processing and acknowledgements lead on database management lead on prospect research efforts and draft donor communications.
This role requires project management skills strong writing ability keen communication skills both in writing and verbally and the ability to juggle competing demands and remain flexible in the face of donor requests and requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
- Donor Database and Gift Processing:
- Serve as the lead for PAIs CRM system (Salesforce) by ensuring that all data including donor records and gift information is entered into the system accurately and timely.
- Generate and maintain regular donor lists and donation reports as needed.
- Utilize fundraising databases and resources such as Iwave Foundation directory and others to regularly identify and qualify new prospects (both individuals and foundations) for frontline development staff.
- Donor Stewardship:
- Produce and send out acknowledgement letters to all PAI donors in a timely manner.
- Ensure that standard elements of funder proposals are updated filed and made available as needed.
- Support the development team by organizing fundraising events campaigns and donor engagement activities as needed.
- Coordinate specific donor campaigns by serving as frontline support for campaign events drafting relevant appeals collateral materials and messaging.
- Collaborate with PAI teams across divisions to gather updates on their work that would be relevant to donors.
- Regularly research and stay up to date on PAI top donor news and overall funder trends and coordinating and sending a weekly update to staff.
- Donor Solicitation:
- Support front line fundraisers on drafting content or collecting content for funding proposals.
- Maintain donor contact lists and facilitate sending communications to relevant donors as necessary.
- Develop key funder research in advance of proposal kick-off meetings and funder meetings.
- Administrative Support:
- Provide general administrative support to the development team including the management of invoices and vendor contracts.
- Participate and/or lead in meeting facilitation and notetaking with PAI staff across divisions. Execute appropriate follow-up post meeting to ensure alignment and clarity around actions steps.
- Education and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in related field (preferred).
- Experience: 1-2 years of experience in development fundraising communications or related fields preferably in the nonprofit sector.
- Strong writing editing and proofreading skills.
- Knowledge of social media platforms and digital marketing strategies is a plus.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with donors stakeholders and colleagues.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
- Familiarity with donor databases (Salesforce Raisers edge) and fundraising tools (i.e. Iwave) are strong pluses.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word Excel PowerPoint) and basic graphic design tools (e.g. Canva).
Salary and Benefits:
This position is based in Washington D.C. The salary range for this role is between $58000 - $62000 USD plus benefits. The final offer for a successful candidate will be determined by a combination of factors including but not limited to skill set level of experience education and market offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes health dental and vision care direct contribution 403(b) retirement plan and flexible spending account. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States and will be subject to a background check.
Other Information:
Please note the position is currently on a hybrid work schedule three days a week. Tuesday Wednesday and Thursdays are required in the PAI office with two days working from home and PAIs business hours are 9:00 am 5:00 pm.
