Job Description

GENERAL SUMMARY

The Multimedia Specialist will be responsible for managing and enhancing the districts digital presence serving as the webmaster for Springfield Public Schools (SPS) and overseeing the content strategy for all official social media platforms. This role is critical in ensuring that SPS maintains a user-friendly accessible and up-to-date website while also driving engagement and communication through social media. The Multimedia Specialist will collaborate with schools and departments to provide guidance on website updates ensure brand consistency and support digital storytelling efforts that align with district priorities.

This position is an integral part of the Office of Communications requiring a creative and detail-oriented professional with strong technical skills an eye for design and a passion for connecting with diverse audiences through digital media.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve as the webmaster for SPS managing content updates user accessibility and overall functionality.
  • Provide support to schools and departments on maintaining their website pages.
  • Oversee the strategic and day-to-day management of SPS social media platforms ensuring engaging timely and relevant content.
  • Monitor social media interactions and website analytics providing reports on audience engagement and content performance.
  • Assist in crisis communication by ensuring accurate timely digital messaging.
  • Work collaboratively with the Multimedia Manager to develop compelling video graphics and multimedia content.
  • Stay informed on emerging trends in web and social media best practices recommending enhancements to SPSs digital strategy.
  • Ensure website and social media compliance with accessibility standards and district policies.

MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

  • Bachelors degree in digital media marketing web development or a related field required and/or;
  • 1-3 years of experience managing websites and social media for an organization.
  • If available please include a link to your portfolio or samples of your previous work that best represents your skills and experience.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS and ABILITIES

  • Proficiency in content management systems
  • Strong knowledge of social media management tools and analytics platforms.
  • Ability to write and edit for web and social media ensuring clarity consistency and engagement.
  • Experience with basic graphic design and video editing for digital platforms.
  • Understanding of web accessibility standards (WCAG) and best practices.
  • Ability to troubleshoot website issues and coordinate with IT or external vendors as needed.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to handle multiple deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with a team to support district-wide communication goals.
  • Availability outside standard work hours as needed for time-sensitive updates or emergency communications.
  • This role will report to and work under the direct supervision of the Multimedia Manager.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally a negligible amount of force frequently and/or or periodically having to lift carry push pull or otherwise move objects.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT

This position requires employee be in an office schools community-based environments or similar environments and field work both indoors and outdoors.
