Job Description

Job Goal:

To assist the Director of Human Resources with all matters related to personnel including streamlining the hiring process by managing end-to-end recruitment activities new teacher orientation teacher certification mentoring identification and development as well as substitute teacher recruitment and training.

Qualifications (minimum education licensure skills and/or experience):

  • Masters degree from accredited college or university.
  • Louisiana Certification with Administration Certification as a Parish or City School Supervisor of Instruction and/or Educational Leader Endorsement.
  • Five years of successful administrative or management experience in education at the level of assistant principal or above. with at least three of those years at a higher level than assistant principal.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Accompany the Supervisor of Personnel on recruiting trips to achieve maximum results in recruiting.
  • Work to strengthen the districts talent pipeline through expanded and strengthened partnerships with preparation providers.
  • Work in collaboration with preparation providers in the assignment of teacher residents throughout the district.
  • Represent St. Landry Parish School Board at career fairs and engage in dialogue with prospective educators about career opportunities in the district.
  • Initiate and direct procedures and criteria for an effective New Teacher/Employee Induction/Orientation Program.
  • Facilitate and coordinate the St. Landry Parish Annual Teacher Job Fair.
  • Facilitate and coordinate the development of district processes to implement effective Mentor teacher processes throughout the district.
  • Work with district level and building level staff in the identification of educators who should be considered to serve as Mentor teachers.
  • Provide initial training and on-going support to Mentor teachers throughout the district.
  • Initiate the direct procedures and criteria for conducting a Substitute Teacher Training Program.
  • Continuously establish and maintain efficient and effective procedures and criteria for the recruitment interviewing selection and employment of substitute teachers with the cooperation and assistance of staff personnel and school administrators and maintain accurate and current records on each.
  • Maintain a current list of uncertified teachers and track their progress toward certification.
  • Guide individuals through the certification update application process.
  • Track the professional development hours for all teachers as mandated by the State Department of Education.
  • Attend all regular and special meetings of the Board as directed by the Supervisor of Personnel.
  • Prepare and submit all required reports and/or forms on a timely basis and according to all established deadlines.
  • Assist as part of an interview committee when interviewing support personnel.
  • Enter into a Professional Growth Plan agreement with the Supervisor of Personnel to be evaluated at the end of each fiscal year.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Coordinators shall be expected to perform the following duties along with the completion of corresponding documents forms and reports.

Self-Evaluation

  • Complete a self-evaluation and document the results on appropriate written forms.

Professional Growth Plan

  • Develop a Professional Growth Plan in collaboration with the evaluation.

Supervision

  • Supervise Principals Assistant Principals and other employees reporting to the specific Coordinator position.
  • Complete and/or assist in the preparation/implementation of employee pre and post observations evaluations Intensive Assistance Plans and other associated tasks and monitoring.

Instructional Components

  • Fulfill duties traditionally expected of those in supervisory positions.
  • Collaborate with those providing and overseeing school-based instruction as well as professionals providing ancillary services.
  • Review draft study recommend and implement policies curriculum and plans to improve the quality of instruction.
  • Conduct school/class walk throughs.
  • Participate in Instructional Leadership Team meetings.

Non-instructional Components

  • Attend meetings generally associated with the instruction of students.
  • Attend faculty staff and department meetings.
  • Attend training sessions.
  • Attend job fairs and related events.
  • Attend IEP/IAP meetings.
  • Attend Central Office and Department meetings.
  • Attend back-to-school and open-house events.
  • Attend graduation.
  • Interview employ and complete necessary hires.
  • Attend PIP Evaluation Observation IAP and student discipline meetings/hearings.
  • Attend school board/committee meetings upon request.
  • Participate in the preparation of necessary disciplinary documents and corresponding disciplinary process.

Physical Demands:

The physical demands of this position involve a combination of mobility travel and the use of office equipment as well as managing and setting up recruitment materials and promotional displays. This may involve lifting and transporting materials. The position may also require prolonged periods of sitting or standing.

Terms of Employment: 12 month (1.38 index)

Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Boards policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel (Bulletin 130).
