FLSA Status: ExemptSite/Location:Fort Hill Community SchoolReports to:Building AdministratorDate:08/26/2025POSITION SUMMARY

This position is based at Fort Hill Community School and reports directly to the Building Administrator. This position is integral to the mission of Fort Hill Community School ensuring that restorative programming and instructional support services are implemented effectively and individual in this role will assist in overseeing the day-to-day operations of restorative programs at Fort Hill Community School ensuring students are provided with the social emotional and academic tools needed to be successful along their educational journey.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Instructional Leadership & Support

  • Works in close collaboration with the lead administrator to design and deliver meaningful student-centered learning opportunities.

  • Demonstrates knowledge of progressive instructional strategies tailored for middle and high school learners.

  • Conducts regular classroom observations with the lead administrator to provide actionable feedback encourage reflective practice and strengthen instructional delivery.

  • Utilizes technology and virtual platforms creatively to expand access coordinate with stakeholders and maximize instructional impact.

  • Employs effective strategies to motivate and engage students ensuring that instruction is both rigorous and responsive.

  • Partners with teachers to align pacing instructional practices and assessment opportunities that allow all students to experience success.

  • Assists with daily instructional activities and assignments ensuring smooth transitions and continuity of learning in collaboration with the lead administrator.

  • Supports institutional priorities by ensuring all instructional practices reflect innovation responsiveness and accountability.

Student Transitions & Institutional Support

  • Plays an integral role in developing and coordinating student transition plans working alongside the lead administrator to ensure seamless connections with base schools.

  • Collaborates consistently with sending and receiving schools to align supports for student needs including summer programming attendance interventions and resource coordination.

  • Serves as a bridge between stakeholders teachers and families to ensure transition processes are proactive comprehensive and student-centered.

  • Establishes structures that sustain continuity of learning and support across institutions while modeling best practices in instructional leadership.

Administrative Leadership

  • In partnership with the lead administrator assists in hiring onboarding and mentoring processes to strengthen staff effectiveness.

  • Collaborates in the evaluation and strategic selection of instructional materials and interventions.

  • Collects and analyzes student performance and attendance data using findings to inform planning coaching and responsive supports.

  • Maintains accurate timely and purposeful records to measure growth and guide staff decision-making.

  • Shares responsibility for managing behavioral incidents by fostering accountability and reinforcing restorative practices.

  • Models strong organizational and time management practices ensuring efficient use of resources in alignment with building leadership priorities.

  • Serves as School Testing Coordinator planning and administering all division-wide and state-wide assessments in close partnership with the lead administrator.

  • Provides ongoing coaching training and collaborative problem-solving with staff to advance instructional goals.

  • Supports the lead administrator in developing and sustaining an effective and innovative secondary alternative school program.

Professional Collaboration & Culture

  • Cultivates strong relationships with students staff families and community partners through collaboration and communication with the lead administrator.

  • Communicates expectations clearly consistently and with a focus on student growth and achievement.

  • Demonstrates respect professional courtesy and a collaborative spirit in all interactions.

  • Responds constructively to feedback modeling reflective practice and adaptability.

  • Works with the lead administrator to build and sustain a positive innovative and student-centered school climate.

  • Maintains professionalism and confidentiality in all matters.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Candidate must possess or be eligible for a Virginia Teaching License with an endorsement in a secondary education field.

Administrative Licensure is preferred.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Candidate must possess leadership and personal characteristics necessary for working effectively with students parents and staff.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
  • Assists in the supervision of faculty staff and students at Fort Hill Community School..
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
  • Minimal travel within the school district may be required.
