This position is responsible to develop and implement commodity/supply chain strategies that reduce total landed costs while providing the highest levels of quality and service to each division. Primary activities include the development of commodity strategies commodity / industry expertise supplier management and cost reductions. Leather commodity management experience preferred.
Job Description:
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES (other duties as assigned):
- Develop comprehensive commodity strategies that deliver the lowest total landed cost best in class quality and technology for each division by leveraging company-wide volumes. Continue to build and develop relationships with key stakeholders in the business units to ensure procurement strategies support overall company and business unit objectives.
- Company subject matter expert (SME) for assigned commodities. Thorough understanding of all industry trends technologies and cost drivers. Leverage this expertise in developing robust commodity strategies.
- Negotiate pricing through use of cost models cost breakdown data market pricing data or other tactics to achieve the most favorable settlement for La-Z-Boy. Formalize commercial supply agreements through the execution of pricing agreements and contracts that govern the commercial relationship between La-Z-Boy and the supply base.
- Research identify evaluate and develop new suppliers to meet global company strategies & production requirements. Drive supply base rationalization initiatives when necessary.
- Manage the entire formal strategic sourcing process from spend analysis through contract implementation and supplier relationship management. Support divisional purchasing teams on new product launches cost reduction projects and supplier performance management.
SCOPE & IMPACT:
Position is responsible for delivering the annual procurement cost reduction goal which is prorated to each CM based on their % of spend under control. Also manages the entire commercial relationship (pricing supply agreements) for assigned commodities which typically range from 20-60 suppliers with an annual spend of $55m - $90m.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelors degree in business (preferably Supply Chain Management) or technical discipline with 8-10 years of relevant experience including 3-5 years of supervisory/leadership experience or equivalent.
- 6-8 years of experience working within a Procurement function
- 3-5 years of experience managing a direct material commodity
- Up to 50 % travel.

- Formal Supplier Assessments
- Lean Manufacturing
- APQP & PPAP
- Experience with ERP Systems and proficient in MS Office suite of products
- Leather commodity management experience preferred.
