Job Description

$2000.00 Hiring Bonus

Program Overview:

Promise Early Education Center is the foremost early learning program in Central Maine that is dedicated to educating the whole child and preparing that child for success in school and opportunity beyond. Our Agency provides a safe engaging and empowering place for children to learn and grow; offers a results driven educational curriculum taught be degreed teachers; and supports the engagement of parents and caregivers in their childs learning through partnership communication and a commitment to the parent as primary educator.

Basic Duties: The Head Start Finance Director is a member of the management/leadership team responsible for overseeing all financial aspects of the Head Start and Early Head Start programs ensuring fiscal integrity compliance with federal and state regulations and maximizing funding resources. The successful candidate will partner with all departments to assure success of the agency.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities-

  • Financial Management and Compliance
  • Over see budgets reports and preparing financial reports and statements
  • Reporting financial records to Board of Directors Executive Director and Leadership Team
  • Compliance with Head Start standards
  • Maintaining and updating financial policies and procedures as required
  • Supervision of finance staff

Qualifications

1. CPA preferred or have a Bachelors degree in accounting business fiscal management or a
related field
2. Proven finance work in a non-profit organization and with non-profit
fund accounting
3. Three years of experience in finance payroll and benefits
4. Experience supervising staff
5. Knowledge and skills in data analysis analytical skills risk management and
forecasting methods
6. Hands-on experience with accounting and financial management software preferably in Blackbaud but not required or must have willingness to learn
7. Grant writing and grants management experience- preference with Head Start
8. Strong working knowledge of modern office communication system: E-mail voice mail
Windows operating system and the ability to operate various office equipment. Ability to
maintain electronic records.
9. Good verbal and written communications skills.
10. Bilingual in English and preferably Spanish desirable but not required. The primary language
in the workplace is English.
Drivers license

We will fill this position when a qualified candidate if identified and hired. We are conducting rolling interviews.
