Job Description

Property Accountant

A well-established property management firm in the East Bay is seeking a highly detail-oriented Property Accountant to support their Controller with a broad range of accounting duties. This is a full-time in-office opportunity ideal for someone with strong accounts payable experience and a background in property management accounting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage accounts payable including expense coding and allocations by property/unit

  • Handle tenant billing passthroughs CAM reconciliations and related inquiries

  • Process remote check deposits and track tenant security deposits

  • Record utility payments and reconcile rent payments using Rent Manager

  • Perform monthly reconciliations for 40 bank accounts credit cards and intercompany GL accounts

  • File parking taxes for San Francisco commercial properties

  • Record monthly mortgage payments and employee reimbursements

  • Assist with monthly quarterly and year-end closings

  • Prepare and file annual 1099s

  • Maintain and update spreadsheets related to taxes insurance and utilities

  • Cross-train in other accounting functions including accounts receivable

  • Support the Controller with financial reporting and day-to-day accounting tasks


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor s degree in Accounting or related field or equivalent experience

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in property management accounting (preferred)

  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel; basic proficiency in Word

  • Familiarity with Rent Manager AvidXchange or similar accounting/property management software (preferred)

  • Strong understanding of AP processes and CAM passthroughs

  • Highly detail-oriented organized and able to meet deadlines

  • Discreet with confidential information

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Professional team-oriented and customer service focused

  • Willingness to work extended hours during month-end and year-end close
