JOB SUMMARY

The Family Support Coordinator will provide services to children of the Picayune Rancheria of the Chukchansi Indians and their families involved in state child custody proceedings under the Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA). Services will focus on promoting the best interests and protection of the child supporting family reunification and preserving the childs cultural identity and connection to the Picayune Rancheria of the Chukchansi Indians. Additionally the Family Support Coordinator will support Tribal families by providing case management services aimed at strengthening families and communities. Responsibilities include conducting family needs assessments; making internal external and cross-agency referrals; connecting clients with parenting education programs; and offering peer-to-peer support. The coordinator will maintain ongoing case oversight through home visits individual appointments and follow-up assessments conducted in person or virtually.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Accurately assess the needs of families through the intake process and ongoing appointments.
  • Build and maintain strong collaborative relationships with families.
  • Conduct home visits focused on providing family support preventing child maltreatment and connecting clients with culturally sensitive services.
  • Follow up with families to ensure they have accessed all available resources.
  • Document and track all services provided using case notes reports data management systems and other tools as required.
  • Participate in case reviews meetings training and events as scheduled or required.
  • Maintain a flexible schedule to meet program goals and deliverables.
  • Supports departmental operations through additional duties as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION

  • Associates degree in social work human services or a related field.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum two years of direct client service experience in a community-based organization as a case manager social worker advocate or similar role.
  • Knowledge of Tribal organizational structures and services particularly those offered by the Social Services/Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA) Department.
  • Understanding of the child welfare system and available community resources across counties where Tribal families reside.
  • Demonstrated cultural sensitivity and awareness of the values traditions and diverse needs of Native American families.
  • Ability to remain composed in challenging or high-stress situations.
  • Skilled in using standard office equipment including computers calculators copiers and fax machines.
  • Capable of building and maintaining positive working relationships with clients coworkers management and outside agencies.
  • Dependable self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Professional well-organized and effective in fast-paced multi-tasking environments.
  • Committed to confidentiality and the preservation of Tribal sovereignty.
  • Possession of a valid drivers license clean driving record and current auto insurance.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Familiarity with the Tribes Constitution laws and cultural practices (preferred but not required).
  • Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously with attention to detail accuracy and integrity.
  • Highly organized and capable of managing projects independently and efficiently.
  • Comfortable engaging with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced high-pressure and results-driven environment.
  • Must maintain strict confidentiality at all times.

PRCI TRIBAL PREFERENCE:

In accordance with applicable Tribal law and Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 the Picayune Rancheria of the Chukchansi Indians (PRCI) Administration provides employment preference to enrolled PRCI Tribal Members. To qualify applicants must submit valid proof of enrollment.

Tribal Members who meet the minimum qualifications will be given preference in hiring promotion transfer and layoff decisions. During the interview process PRCI Tribal Members will receive an additional 7.5 points (10% of the 75-point interview rubric). Non-PRCI Native American candidates will receive an additional 5 points (6.7% of the total points) in accordance with Indian Preference guidelines.

INDIAN PREFERENCE STATEMENT:

In compliance with 25 CFR Part 276 and Title VII of the Civil Rights Act Sections 701(b) and 703(i) employment preference shall be given to qualified applicants who are enrolled members of the Picayune Rancheria of the Chukchansi Indians and secondarily to another qualified American Indian/Alaska Native Candidate.
