Description

About the role

East Gippsland Water is seeking a qualified and detail-oriented Financial Accountant to support the Finance and Business team in delivering accurate financial and accounting information. This role ensures compliance with corporate policies and contributes to effective financial management aligned with the strategic objectives of the Corporation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in preparing monthly financial board reports
  • Assist with external reporting to government agencies
  • Maintain and enhance financial management system reporting
  • Support the development of the Annual Financial Report
  • Manage compliance reporting including BAS GST PAYG taxation and borrowings
  • Assist with internal and external audit processes
  • Oversee inventory control and asset accounting including revaluations
  • Contribute to budgeting and corporate planning activities
  • Ensure accurate costing of projects and allocation of overheads
  • Provide financial insights to support informed decision-making

* This role has been classified as per our Enterprise Agreement as a Band 3-4 position ($83811.38 - $106841.38.)

Skills And Experiences

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA

  1. A degree in Accounting or Finance with a demonstrated sound understanding of financial principles and willingness to achieve CA or CPA membership.
  2. Well-developed time management and problem-solving skills combined with the ability to prioritise to ensure high quality and accurate outcomes during times of peak activity whilst ensuring attention to detail.
  3. Well-developed interpersonal skills ensuring the ability to work effectively with people at all organisational levels.
  4. Effective project management skills including the ability to work in and utilise a team-based approach to achieve outcomes.
  5. A positive attitude towards personal development and knowledge of East Gippsland Water and/or the water industry development including being accountable innovative passionate and united to achieve corporate objectives.
