Job Description

Position Title

SFS Assistant

Reports To

Child Nutrition Director

FLSA Status

Non-Exempt

Education Training and Experience:

  • Have a High School diploma or GED equivalency
  • Food service experience preferred
  • Be able to communicate well with adults and children

Training:

Annual training will include: HACCP Food production Civil Rights Sanitation Food Safety Cash Handling Point of Sale Free and Reduced School Meals Offer vs. Serve Blood Borne Pathogens and Ethics. Additional training as required by CN Director.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Follows policies and procedures of Bladen County Schools.
  • Knowledge of cash management inventory food preparation and standards of sanitation and safety.
  • Assists in quality food production and service.
  • Possesses excellent customer service skills.
  • Promotes and maintains high standards of sanitation of safety and demonstrates acceptable personal grooming practices.
  • Assists to ensure that food supplies and equipment are adequate to operate an effective cafeteria.
  • Assistant maintaining up to date productions records including completing paper and electronic records as program requires.
  • Possesses a willingness to learn and implement new techniques and practices.
  • Knowledge of current developments in school food service and shares information with other school nutrition staff.
  • Knowledgeable of nutrition education information and shares this information with other school personnel and students.
  • Helps establish a pleasant and positive image in the cafeteria. Serves food graciously and practices good communications skills.
  • Employee is expected to possess interpersonal relationship skills necessary to maintain a harmonious work environment.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor

Physical Requirements:

Regularly required to sit stand walk talk hear write operate a computer hand-held learning devices and other office equipment reach with hands and arms and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
