Alfred Health

Alfred Health is a leader in health care delivery improvement research and education. We are the main provider of health services to people living in the inner southeast suburbs of Melbourne from ambulatory to inpatient and home and community-based services.

  • Fixed term parental leave cover until January 2027
  • Part time (66 hours per fortnight)

The Department

The Alfred Health Emergency Virtual care and Outpatients (EVO) Program is responsible for the delivery of emergency and paediatric clinical services across Alfred Health as well as several other clinical support services. This program also plays an integral role in the access and flow demand as well as capacity management across both Alfred & Sandringham.

Alfred Health Emergency sees approximately 120000 patients per annum across two Departments; the Alfred Emergency & Trauma Centre (E&TC) manages approximately 75000 patients and the Sandringham Emergency Department manages approximately 45000 patients each year.

The Role

Alfred Health is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Nurse Practitionerto join our dynamic healthcare team. This role is pivotal in delivering high-quality patient-centred care in alignment with theAlfred Health Nursing Professional Practice Framework which supports ourPatients Come First Strategy.

The Nurse Practitioner will operate within five key domains of nursing excellence:

These domains guide our commitment to maintaining high standards leading innovation and adding value to healthcare delivery.

Qualifications and Experience Required

Academic

  • Current endorsement by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia via AHPRA as a Nurse Practitioner
  • Completed a Masters of Nurse Practitioner (or a Masters granted equivalence of qualification by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency plus an approved Therapeutic Medication Management module)

Key Capabilities

  • Extensive advanced knowledge of clinical specialty area
  • Peer recognition as a leader within clinical field
  • Knowledge of research methods and processes the ability to generate own research as well as the ability to analyse and interpret existing data
  • High level interpersonal and communication skills across a broad range of health professionals
  • Ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively
  • Demonstrated ability to be self motivated and innovative
  • Capacity for critical reflection
  • An understanding of the political sensitivity of developing the Nurse Practitioner role
