Reporting to the General Manager Clinical Governance the Manager Patient Safety will primarily focus on reform of the clinical incident management program in line with the project outline across SJGHC.
The position is pivotal in driving the completion of critical initiatives across the organisation identified in the Clinical Incident Management Project liaising with Chief Executive Officers Divisional Directors Medical Services Divisional Directors of Nursing and Quality and Risk Managers.
This opportunity is being offered on a six (6) month fixed term contract with the possibility of extension to 12 months. This opportunity is a project role focused on clinical incident management.
The Position
Utilise Subject Matter Expertise in Clinical Incident Management Improvement:
Improve systems to support clinical incident reporting investigation and management.
Develop procedures and processes to support timely review investigation and closure of clinical incidents.
Assist in improving oversight and monitoring of clinical incident management.
Design and implement clinical incident education for caregivers.
Review clinical incident investigation methodologies and develop relevant processes to support these.
Develop and implement an organisational lessons learned framework.
Review and develop policies procedures and toolkits related to clinical incident investigation and management.
Provide training to Divisions on clinical incident investigation and Root Cause Analyses.
Develop packages of clinical incident education for all levels of caregivers.
Review and develop the governance oversight and monitoring of the Group (national) function.
Assess and define clinical incident organisational reporting.
In conjunction with the Group Clinical Governance team provide oversight of the data quality and integrity within the system in order to provide assurance to the Executive and Board regarding organisational wide patient safety
Provide training to Divisional caregivers on the system including advanced training to Champions and Super-Users such as the development of customised reports
Lead user forums to foster deeper expertise engagement and participation
Via liaison with Group Clinical Governance lead system improvements and upgrades to the CIMS platform
You will possess a relevant tertiary qualification in health care or a related field and demonstrate an understanding of and experience managing clinical incident management. In addition you will demonstrate experience in the use of incident management systems and reporting functionality.
To succeed in this role you will possess strong analytical skills with the ability to collect organise analyse and disseminate large amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy. Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to undertake research activities and develop quality reports will be essential to this role.
Ideally you will have a post graduate qualification in a relevant field and previous experience working in a clinical quality risk patient safety or similar position.

We can offer you
Salary: $154196 to $171339 per annum plus 12% superannuation
Fixed term full-time opportunity (initially for a 6-month period) working 38 hours per week.
Based in our Perth CBD office
