Job Description

Job Title: Safety Executive

Location: Ahmedabad Gujarat Department: EHS (Environment Health & Safety) Reporting To: Plant Head / EHS Manager / General Manager Operations Experience: 3 6 Years Employment Type: Full-Time On-site Industry: Engineering Fabrication Scaffolding Infrastructure Equipment Metal Manufacturing Job Summary: The Safety Executive is responsible for implementing maintaining and monitoring all safety practices in the plant to ensure a hazard-free workplace. The role involves conducting regular audits safety training incident investigations and ensuring compliance with the Factories Act Pollution Control Fire Safety Norms and ISO/EHS standards. The ideal candidate must proactively identify risks promote a safety culture and ensure 100% adherence to legal and company-specific safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Safety Compliance & Monitoring

Enforce safety procedures as per Factories Act Fire Safety Rules and Occupational Health & Safety

standards.

Ensure compliance with PPE usage safety signage and workplace hygiene.

Monitor high-risk zones (e.g. welding CNC hot work areas) for violations.

2. Risk Assessment & Hazard Identification

Conduct Job Safety Analysis (JSA) for all plant operations.

Identify unsafe practices near misses and eliminate hazards.

Maintain and update the Hazard Identification & Risk Assessment (HIRA) register.

3. Emergency Preparedness

Conduct fire drills evacuation drills and mock emergency response sessions.

Ensure proper functionality of fire extinguishers alarms and safety showers.

Prepare Emergency Response Plans (ERP) and communicate across departments.

4. Training & Awareness

Conduct safety induction for all new employees contractors and visitors.

Organize monthly toolbox talks safety workshops and refresher training.

Develop awareness campaigns on machine safety electrical safety and ergonomic practices.

5. Documentation & Reporting

Maintain records of incidents inspections training medical reports and audits.

Submit daily weekly and monthly safety reports to the management.

Ensure documentation is audit-ready for ISO 45001 / EHS audits and government inspections.

6. Coordination with External & Internal Stakeholders

Liaise with external safety auditors environmental agencies and labour authorities.

Coordinate with maintenance and production teams for safe equipment handling and permit-to-work

systems (PTW).

7. Incident Investigation

Investigate accidents near misses and unsafe events.

Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Corrective & Preventive Actions (CAPA).

Track closure of safety observations and incident-related action points.

Key Responsibility Areas (KRAs):

KRA Description Workplace Safety Implementation Enforce PPE machine safety and hazard signage across the plant Legal & Statutory Compliance Adherence to Factories Act Fire Safety norms and EHS guidelines Training & Capacity Building Conduct regular safety training and awareness sessions Incident Reporting & Analysis Investigate and report incidents with CAPA implementation Emergency Management Plan and test emergency drills equipment and ERP systems Safety Audits Conduct internal audits and support third-party inspections Permit to Work (PTW) Monitor PTW systems for hot work confined space electrical jobs

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):

KPI Target LTI (Lost Time Injury) 0 per year Near Miss Reporting 5/month with closure Safety Training Coverage 100% new joins quarterly refreshers PPE Compliance Rate 98% Audit Non-conformities < 3 per audit Safety Drill Participation 100% plant staff Safety Observation Closure Rate 90% within 7 days

Qualifications & Skills:

Education:

Diploma / B.E. in Mechanical Industrial Safety or Environment Engineering

Mandatory: Certification in Industrial Safety (IOSH / DISH / RLI / CLI / NEBOSH IGC preferred)

Knowledge of ISO 45001 EMS and EHS Management Systems

Experience:

3 6 years in a safety role in manufacturing metal fabrication or infrastructure-related plant

operations

Technical Skills:

Familiar with tools like HIRA JSA RCA CAPA

Good understanding of fire safety chemical handling and mechanical safety

Knowledge of local compliance documents like Form 37 Form 11 MSDS etc.

Soft Skills:

Detail-oriented with strong observational skills

Confident communicator across all levels (workers to senior management)

Documentation and report writing skills

Proactive and solution-oriented mindset

Engineering Fabrication Units

Formwork Scaffolding PEB or Heavy Fabrication Units

Electrical Component or Sheet Metal Plants
