Job Summary

The Program Specialist I under general supervision performs entry-level specialist duties for a department college or division.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assists in planning developing implementing coordinating and monitoring programs and services.

  • Plans and develops specialized programs such as conferences seminars lectures meetings and workshops to facilitate program goals.

  • Coordinates specialized program communications and marketing materials.

  • Assists in the development of policies and procedures. Assists in the preparation and maintenance of budgets special reports and other documents.

  • Attends meetings and conferences to discuss the progress of assigned programs.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Assist in the coordination of grant programs and special projects.

  • Maintain participant data and assist with reporting requirements.

  • Coordinate programming for the Lopez Foundation scholarship recipients Texas Leadership Scholars recovery students and other targeted student populations.

  • Provide student support services through workshops student activities and individual interactions and encourage the utilization of services to targeted student populations.

  • Serve as a liaison between participants mentors university departments and/or external agencies.

  • Create establish and maintain program files databases correspondence and program materials.

  • Serve as a first point of contact for program information and coordinate responses to requests for program information.

Minimum Requirements

Education Bachelors degree in applicable field.

Experience No experience required.

Knowledge and Abilities

Knowledge of:

  • Word processing and spreadsheet applications.

Ability to:

  • Multitask and work cooperatively with others.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong interpersonal organizational and customer service skills.

  • Maintains attention to detail and utilizes sound judgment.

Licensing / Professional Certification None.

Salary: $17.54/hourly
