Our challenge

We are seeking a highly skilled Manual QA Engineer with strong SQL experience and a deep understanding of the banking domain. The successful candidate will join our dynamic team to ensure the quality and reliability of our banking applications through rigorous manual testing and advanced SQL querying. This role demands a keen eye for detail excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a fast-paced environment.

Additional Information*

The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other accordance with law the base salary for this role if filled within Mississauga ON is CAD $100k CAD $105k/year & benefits (see below).

The Role

Responsibilities:

• Develop document and execute comprehensive test plans and test cases.
• Perform functional regression integration and end-to-end testing.
• Identify document and track software defects and inconsistencies.
• Work closely with developers business analysts and stakeholders to understand requirements and provide feedback on design and implementation.
• Write complex SQL queries to validate back-end data and ensure data integrity.
• Perform data validation and ETL (Extract Transform Load) testing.
• Analyze and interpret data to identify discrepancies and inconsistencies.
• Apply domain knowledge to understand banking processes products and regulations.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements in testing.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure prompt resolution of issues.
• Communicate testing progress results and issues to stakeholders.
• Provide input on improving QA processes and practices.

Requirements:

• Minimum of 7 years of experience in manual software testing.
• Proven experience in writing and executing SQL queries.
• Prior experience in the banking or financial services industry is Required.
• Strong proficiency in SQL and database management systems.
• Familiarity with testing tools such as JIRA HP ALM TestRail or similar.
• Knowledge of various testing methodologies and defect management processes.
• Understanding of software development life cycle (SDLC) and Agile methodologies.

Preferred but not required:

• Experience with automation testing tools (e.g. Selenium QTP) is a plus.
• Knowledge of scripting languages such as Python or Perl is advantageous.
• Understanding of API testing using tools like Postman or SoapUI.
• Certification in ISTQB or similar QA certifications.
• Detail-oriented ability to turn deliverables around quickly with a high degree of accuracy
• Strong analytical skills ability to interpret business requirements and produce functional and technical design documents.
• Good time management skills Ability to prioritize and multi-task handling multiple efforts at once.
• Strong desire to understand and learn domain.
• Experience in a financial services/banking industry
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment; to be flexible and learn quickly.
• Ability to multi-task with attention to detail/ prioritize tasks.
