Auckland Aircraft Maintenance has an exciting opportunity for an NDT Engineer to join their NDT team within Production Support.

Preferred Applicants will have NDT experience on one or more of the following Aircraft types: (Boeing 777 and 787 Airbus A320/321 CEO/NEO ATR72 and Q300). The role will apply aircraft and components NDT support on the Air New Zealand fleet and customer aircraft.

Applicants must have current NDT qualifications and certifications in accordance with NAS410 and EN4179 for at least five of the following methods namely Eddy Current Liquid Penetrant Magnetic Particle Radiographic Thermographic and Ultrasonic. Having Thermographic experience will be an advantage.

To be successful the applicant must be a motivated team member be safety quality and delivery focused. Have a continuous improvement mindset.

Individual communication skills and the ability to relate and interact with a wide range of people on a day-to-day basis is important.  A strong customer focus and excellent time management skills are essential along with a strong understanding of aircraft systems and processes. You must have the ability to make decisions regarding serviceability of the product that you will be working on.

The purpose of this role is to provide excellent service to our customers through the safe accurate and timely application of NDT.  The successful applicant will be working within a highly regulated environment and need to be able to meet tight deadlines while juggling changing priorities the need to work extra hours or special shifts may arise on customer demand.

Prerequisites for the position are:

  • Have completed an Apprenticeship/Traineeship in the Aircraft Industry 
  • Proven ability to work in a team environment
  • A commitment to Health and Safety
  • Preferred candidates will have NDT Level 2 experience on the above Aircraft types
  • Upon request must be able to supply the following evidence for each method
    • Initial NDT classroom training (Hours syllabus Level and grade)
    • Certification
    • Records of experience hours submitted to obtain L2 qualification and certification
    • Current Annual Proficiency Check result
    • Current eye test result satisfying NAS410 and EN4179.
