Job Description

GENERAL ACCOUNTANT

JOB DESCRIPTION

Location: Tema

Industry: Manufacturing

Reports To: Finance Manager


Our client is one of the leading agro-processing companies in Ghana and Africa.


Scope


The General Accountant will primarily be responsible for preparing invoices settling accounts preparing monthly reconciliations and performing administrative tasks.


Key Responsibilities


Prepare local invoices on raw materials and book foreign suppliers invoices.

File invoices accurately for easy reference.

Match payments against invoices and settle accounts in a timely manner.

Resolve any invoice discrepancies or payment issues with suppliers.

Calculate and account for additional purchase costs including landed costs.

Check costs and close job orders upon completion.

Work closely with the purchasing department to reconcile invoices with purchase orders and goods received.

Conduct monthly suppliers reconciliations on schedule.

Prepare weekly and monthly payable schedules.

Create and maintain a list of approved new suppliers.

Work with suppliers to resolve any invoice discrepancies or payment issues.

Perform other functions as assigned by the Finance Manager.



Requirements

Requirements


Bachelor s degree or diploma in Accounting or any related field.

Minimum of 2 years of experience in accounting or a similar role.

Professional certification in ACCA Final or Professional Level is preferred.

Must have keen attention to detail.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.

Proficiency in financial management software (e.g. accounting systems).

Relevant experience in accounts payable or a similar role.

Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Strong organisational and time-management skills.

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite especially MS Excel (Logic Functions).
