As aDatabase Administrator (DBA)at Intelex Technologies you will play a critical role in managing and optimizing our MS SQL ServerOracle and PostgreSQLdatabase environments. You will be responsible for thedesign implementation performance tuning high availability and securityof our database infrastructure across cloud and on-premises deployments. Working within theDevOps & DataOps team you will collaborate with developers cloud engineers and SREs to ensure seamless database operations supporting our mission-critical applications.
Responsibilities and Deliverables
Database Administration & Architecture
- Design implement and optimize databases acrossMS SQL Server Oracle and PostgreSQLenvironments.
- Participate inarchitecture/design reviews ensuring database structures align with application needs and performance goals.
- Define and maintain best practices forschema design indexing strategies and query optimization.
Performance Tuning & Scalability
- Conduct proactivequery tuning execution plan analysis and indexing strategiesto optimize database performance.
- Monitor troubleshoot and resolve performance bottlenecks acrossMS SQL Server Oracle and PostgreSQL.
- Implementpartitioning replication and cachingto improve data access and efficiency.
High Availability Replication & Disaster Recovery
- ImplementHA/DR solutionsfor all supported databases includingMS Clustering Oracle Data Guard PostgreSQL Streaming Replication and AlwaysOn Availability Groups.
- Performcapacity planningand ensure properbackup and recovery strategiesare in place.
- Automate and testfailover and recoveryprocesses to minimize downtime.
Security & Compliance
- Implementrole-based access control (RBAC) encryption auditing and compliance policiesacross all database environments.
- Ensure adherence toSOC 2 ISO 27001 GDPR and HIPAAsecurity standards.
- Collaborate with security teams to identify and mitigate vulnerabilities.
DevOps CI/CD & Automation
- Integrate database changes intoCI/CD pipelines ensuringautomated schema migrations and rollbacks.
- UseTerraform or other IaC toolsfor database provisioning and configuration management.
- Automate routine maintenance tasks monitoring and alerting usingNew Relic and PagerDuty or similar.
Cloud & Data Technologies
- Managecloud-based database solutionssuch asAzure SQL Amazon RDS Aurora Oracle Cloud and PostgreSQL on AWS/Azure.
- Work withNoSQL solutions like MongoDBwhen needed.
- Supportdata warehousing and analytics solutions(e.g. Snowflake Redshift SSAS).
Incident Response & On-Call Support
- Provideon-call supportfor database-related production incidents on a rotational basis.
- Conductroot cause analysisand implement long-term fixes for database-related issues.
Organizational Alignment
This is a highly collaborative role requiring close interactions with:
- DevOps & SRE teamsto improve database scalability and monitoring.
- Developersto ensure efficient database designs and optimize queries.
- Cloud & Security teamsto maintain compliance and security best practices.
Qualifications & SkillsRequired:
- 2 years minimum 3-6 years preferablyof experience managingOracle MS SQL Server and PostgreSQLin enterprise environments.
- Expertise indatabase performance tuning query optimization and execution plan analysis.
- Ability to implement replication clustering and HA AlwaysOn and cloud technologies.
- Hands-on experience withcloud databases in AWS or Azure(RDS Azure SQL Oracle Cloud etc.).
- Solid understanding withbackup strategies disaster recovery concepts and failover testing.
- Proficiency inT-SQL PL/SQL and PostgreSQL SQL scripting.
- Basic scripting understanding and exposure to PowerShell Python or Bash.
Preferred:
- Experience with cloud-based databases (e.g. Azure SQL Oracle Cloud).
- Exposure to high availability features like AlwaysOn or Oracle RAC/Data Guard.
- Basic scripting skills in PowerShell or Bash.
- Relevant certifications (e.g. Oracle OCA Microsoft Azure Database Fundamentals).
- Azure Database Administrator Associate or AWS Certified Database Specialty.
Education & Other Requirements
- Bachelors or Masters degree inComputer Science Data Engineering or equivalent experience.
- This role requires asatisfactory Criminal Background Check and Public Safety Verification.
