Standard Hours Bi-Weekly:75

Start Date: Immediately

End Date:One (1) year from start date with possible extension

Salary:Level 8 Step 1 ($3770.25 biweekly)

Closing Date 4:00pm (YST):July 16 2025

Reporting to the Director of Heritage this position is responsible for documenting and protecting the land-based heritage resources of the Trondk Hwchin. The Heritage Officer provides technical expertise conducts research participates in various inter-governmental/party processes and analyzes complex issues and provides recommendations to assist with decision making as it relates to Heritage and to promote first nations approaches to Heritage Resource Management.

An Eligibility List may be established from this competition the duration of the eligibility list may be up to 12 months. The eligibility list may be used to fill future permanent full-time permanent part-time temporary full-time temporary part-time term or auxiliary on-call vacancies within the same department and classification based on the organizational needs by going the next highest ranked candidate until the eligibility list expires.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Post-Secondary education and/or extensive experience in the Heritage/Cultural Resource Management field. An equivalent combination of education lived experience community knowledge skills and experience may be considered.
  • Strong on-the-land skills including working in remote settings required.
  • Ability to manage projects and program budgets.
  • Knowledge of and working experience with Yukon First Nations culture heritage traditions and history.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills including technical writing proposals presentations etc.
  • Required Computer Skills word-processing database research mapping (ArcMap/View 9) and GPS.
  • Experience planning and implementing remote field trips and programs.
  • Strong organizational prioritization multi-tasking and time management skills.

Assets:

  • Experience working with Elders an asset.
  • Valid Possession Acquisition License an asset.
  • Boat experience an asset.

Conditions of Employment:

  • Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening.
  • Valid Class 5 Drivers license with clear drivers abstract.
  • Standard First Aid and willingness to take Wilderness First Aid.
  • ATV Training.
  • TH101 Cultural Awareness training.
