QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Please clearly demonstrate on your cover letter and resume how you meet the following qualifications and experience:
- Bachelor of Education or equivalent with a specialization/experience in Social Studies;
- Significant coursework in drama and/or theatre;
- Experience teaching Music Arts and Drama at the secondary level;
- Experience teaching students performing at wide-ranging levels of achievement;
- Experience organizing and delivering programming through a variety of instructional interventions and adaptations that will help the student succeed;
- Experience teaching Physical Education would be an asset;
- Experience teaching and working with Yukon First Nations students is an asset;
- Experience using theatre equipment technology lights and sound would be an asset
DESIRED KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND SUITABILITY:
Candidates should have and may be assessed on their:
- Ability to incorporate Grade 9-12 Social Studies Curriculum into theatre productions;
- Ability to adapt curriculum to meet and challenge a range of student learning styles and abilities;
- Excellent interpersonal communication and collaborative skills working with parents students and a multiple member instructional team connections to local theatre groups;
- Strong classroom management planning and organizational skills;
- Keen interest and ability to contribute to overall school goals;
- Willingness to work in a flexible and ever-changing experiential environment;
- Ability to work both independently and with a co-program instructor to motivate learners;
- Willingness and ability to work as a member of a professional team to promote and work collaboratively to support school initiatives and the total school program;
- Ability to differentiate instruction using current assessment for learning pedagogy and practice;
- Experience helping to implement Individual Education Plans Student Learning and Behavior Plans for students with Special Needs;
- A knowledge of and sensitivity to the culture and aspirations of Yukon First Nations students.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- Criminal Record/RCMP Check with Vulnerable Sector; to be provided before the first day of employment dated no more than 3 months prior to your start date
