Overview
The Director of Category Management/Strategic Sourcing is to define implement and lead the organizations overall sourcing strategy focusing on defining KPIs and building diverse value-driven vendor partnerships while being mindful of both risk management and cost effectiveness. This role will define requirements and standards of engagement through strong partnerships with internal stakeholders; develop vendor partnerships and design scorecards to measure evaluate and hold accountable vendor performance; and leverage expertise to obtain market intelligence perform market analysis and benchmarking to anticipate or negotiate price changes.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with the organizations goals and objectives.
- Lead and manage a team of procurement professionals providing guidance training and performance evaluations.
- Identify and evaluate potential suppliers conducting thorough assessments of their capabilities reliability and financial stability.
- Negotiate contracts and agreements with suppliers to ensure favorable terms and conditions including pricing delivery schedules and quality standards.
- Monitor and analyze market trends pricing and supplier performance to identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders such as finance legal and operations to understand their procurement needs and develop strategies to meet them.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers fostering partnerships and driving continuous improvement in quality delivery and cost.
- Ensure compliance with organizational policies industry regulations and ethical standards in all procurement activities.
- Implement and maintain procurement systems and tools to streamline processes improve efficiency and enhance data analysis capabilities.
- Prepare and present reports on procurement activities including savings achieved supplier performance and risk mitigation strategies to senior management.
Basic Qualifications
- 12 years of supply chain sourcing experience
- Bachelors degree in business administration supply chain management or a related field. A masters degree is preferred.
- Proven experience in procurement or strategic sourcing.
- Strong knowledge of procurement best practices industry trends and regulatory requirements.
- Excellent negotiation and contract management skills with a record of achieving favorable outcomes.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities with experience in managing and developing a team.
- Strategic mindset to help define the problem design tooling to provide insights and develop reporting to help guide data-driven decisions.
- Excellent communication and people skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Proficiency in procurement software and tools as well as Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Professional certifications in procurement or supply chain management (e.g. CSCP CPSM) are a plus.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced dynamic environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
