JOB TITLE: Manager-Early Learning Academy

REPORTS TO: Project Director- Early Learning Academy & PRS Services

WAGE/HOUR STATUS: Nonexempt

PAY GRADE: Para 6

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

The Manager-Early Learning Academy supports the Project Director in overseeing daily operations to deliver exceptional childcare services. This role includes supervising staff ensuring compliance with licensing standards supporting curriculum implementation and fostering a safe and engaging environment for children. Additionally the Manager-Early Learning Academy monitors staff performance and attendance maintains appropriate staff-to-child ratios and facilitates effective communication between staff families and leadership. The Manager-Early Learning Academy will maintain compliance with the minimum standards and State and Federal Licensing laws and is responsible for the daily on-site operations of the child-care center.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

  • High school graduate or GED from an accredited institution
  • Minimum of 2-3 years experience in a licensed childcare center or early education with demonstrated leadership abilities.

Preferred:

  • Associates of Applied Science degree in child development or a closely related field with six college credit hours in child development and six college credit hours in business management.
  • Three years of Child-care management experience in a licensed child-care center

SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:

  • In-depth knowledge of childcare licensing regulations Texas Rising Star and Early Childhood Education best practices.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for effective collaboration with staff and families.
  • Proficiency in administrative systems and tools for record-keeping and scheduling.
  • CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
  • Ability to interpret policies and procedures
  • Desire to work with children ages 6 weeks to 10 years of age
  • Must have the ability to understand verbal and written instructions in English

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

Program Management:

  • Collaborate with the Project Director to plan implement and evaluate educational and recreational programs.
  • Ensure all programs meet developmental milestones and licensing requirements.
  • Support curriculum alignment with age-appropriate goals to promote childrens growth and development.

Staff Supervision and Development:

  • Monitor staff attendance including clock-in and clock-out times.
  • Ensure staff coverage aligns with required ratios and provide direct support by covering classrooms when necessary.
  • Conduct regular walkthroughs of classrooms to ensure staff adhere to schedules and actively engage with children.
  • Maintain clear documentation of staff concerns performance issues and notable observations.

Compliance and Safety:

  • Uphold all Texas Rising Star and state childcare licensing regulations.
  • Conduct regular safety checks and drills to ensure a secure environment for children and staff.
  • Address any issues that may arise promptly and effectively to minimize risk.

Parent Communication:

  • Serve as a point of contact for families addressing inquiries and concerns with professionalism.
  • Participate in parent-teacher meetings and other events to foster strong family partnerships.
  • Communicate childrens progress and highlight program benefits to families.

Administrative Support:

  • Assist in managing operational logistics such as purchasing supplies and maintaining accurate records.
  • Support the enrollment process by coordinating tours registrations and family orientations.
  • Maintain thorough documentation of incidents attendance and staff certifications.

Child Development Support:

  • Observe children to identify areas of concern and collaborate with teachers to implement individual plans.
  • Promote inclusive practices and ensure activities cater to diverse developmental needs.
  • Monitor classroom dynamics to ensure childrens emotional social and cognitive needs are met.

Flexibility and Adaptability:

  • Demonstrate flexibility in working within classrooms as needed including assisting with opening or closing the daycare facility.
  • Provide coverage for alternate shifts to address staff absences or shortages ensuring compliance with required staff-to-child ratios and maintaining a safe supportive environment for children.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

The Manager-Early Learning Academy works onsite at a childcare facility combining clerical duties with active engagement in classrooms and play areas. This role requires flexibility for occasional evening or weekend shifts during special events. The position involves physical demands such as mobility prolonged sitting repetitive hand and arm movements and occasional lifting carrying pushing or pulling. Travel within the district is also the role requires maintaining emotional control and effective communication in English both orally and in writing for safety purposes. The work environment includes both indoor and outdoor settings.
