Electrical estimating knowledge is an advantage. This is a work-from-home set up and Monday to Friday. This is also an urgent requirement and we only accept applicant who can join us immediately.
Responsibilities:
- Estimating mechanical systems including subway station ventilation equipment HVAC building automation & controls plumbing hydronic systems & boilers storm & sanitary drainage utilities fire protection conveying equipment service and maintenance equipment pumps storage tanks compressed air and natural gas systems.
- Leveraging extensive experience in a similar role ideally within the construction industry.
- Developing proficiency in the use of company estimating systems and processes.
- Preparing various types of estimates: order-of-magnitude conceptual feasibility pre-design budget value engineering control definitive final Engineers estimates and major change order estimates for ongoing construction of facility structures and transit operating system elements.
- Completing full estimates on smaller to mid-size projects and sectional estimates on larger projects.
- Ensuring efficient operation of all systems in accordance with the Business Management System (BMS).
- Analyzing enquiry contents extracting commercial requirements and advising all relevant departments.
- Interpreting the Scope of Work formulating and placing SubContract Enquiries and appraising subsequent responses.
- Attending PreTender Meetings and Site Visits to assess all salient features.
- Performing Quantity TakeOffs of materials and labor operations from G.A drawings.
- Consulting with owners on various issues discovered during bid preparation design rates schedules.
- Completing a wide range of Multi-Discipline estimates under general direction utilizing processes labor availabilities and productivity material prices based on historical data and detail drawing takeoffs.
- Demonstrating a history of experience interpersonal skills knowledge of material & subcontract pricing and a broad knowledge of project controls to ensure compliance with policies procedures and business strategies.
- Coordinating with other estimators procurement groups engineering teams and construction teams during the proposal phase and assisting in the preparation of subcontractor packages.
- Supervising other estimators in preparing budgetary and fixed priced estimates.
- Reviewing labor productivity to ensure compliance with working restrictions and appropriate overtime.
- Reviewing material pricing and validating against R.S.
- Discussing client positions post contractor establishment and determining points of disagreement and paths to resolution.
- Performing additional duties as determined by the Chief Estimator.
Qualifications:
- Experience managing leading and mentoring an estimating/cost team.
- Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
- 10-15 years of experience with 5-8 years in preparing piping and mechanical detail MTO (at least Class 2 estimate) cost estimates for lump sum construction projects.
- Leadership and ownership in preparing Class 2 and better cost estimates for piping mechanical and structural scopes from clients bid documents.
- Knowledge of other disciplines is an advantage.
