POSITION: School Instructional Technology Facilitator / Media Coordinator

NATURE OF WORK:
The School Instructional Technology Facilitator (ITF) and Media Coordinator is a certified educator who supports both instructional technology integration and media services within the school. This dual-role position empowers teachers and students to access evaluate and utilize information and digital tools effectively. The balance between media and technology duties is determined by the principal and aligned with the schools instructional goals.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Instructional Technology Responsibilities
- Collaborate with teachers to integrate technology into lesson plans assessments and instructional activities.
- Deliver professional development on educational technology tools digital citizenship and district-adopted platforms.
- Support troubleshooting and basic technical needs related to instructional tools and applications.
- Assist in the evaluation and implementation of school-wide digital learning initiatives.
- Promote responsible use of technology and model best practices in digital learning.
Media Services Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day operations of the school library including book circulation and collection development aligned to district policy.
Provide students and staff access to current diverse print and digital resources that support the curriculum. - Deliver digital citizenship instruction aligned to the NC Digital Learning Standards.
- Attend required SLMC meetings and stay informed on library/media updates and district guidance.
School-Based Leadership
- Support student programs such as STEM Challenges Battle of the Books and other school-wide enrichment opportunities.
- Collaborate with administration and instructional staff to foster a culture of reading inquiry and innovation.
- Organize and maintain a welcoming inclusive media center environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support school initiatives.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- North Carolina teaching license required.
- Masters degree in Library Science Instructional Technology or a related field preferred.
- Valid 079 (Media Coordinator) or 077 (Instructional Technology Specialist Computers) license preferred; must obtain one of these within three (3) years of hire.
