Viterbo University invites applications for a one-year full-time visiting Assistant or Associate
professor position in Criminal and Community Justice beginning August 2025. Seeking a
teacher/scholar to offer a combination of courses in Criminal Justice and Sociology which may
include Introduction to Criminal Justice Policing Corrections Crime and Delinquency
Criminology Juvenile Justice Introduction to Sociology or other areas of interest. Teaching is
primarily face-to-face with occasional online or blended formats. Candidates demonstrate a
commitment to the Catholic Franciscan mission of Viterbo University social justice equity and
inclusion. Full time teaching load is 12 credits per semester.
Qualifications: Masters degree Criminal Justice Criminology Sociology or closely related
field required Ph.D. in Criminology Sociology or closely related field preferred. Preference for
candidates with prior teaching experience. Must be authorized to work in the United States. Viterbo University is unable to sponsor or take over the sponsorship of the Employment Visa.
Rank and Salary: Appointment is at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor with a nine-month academic year appointment beginning August of 2025. Salary is competitive with other private institutions of similar size mission and educational philosophy.
