Job Summary

The Assistant Vice President (AVP) Assurance & Advisory Services (A&A) is a strategic leadership position that plays a key role in helping the company achieve its strategic intent while nurturing and developing future leaders. Reporting to the Chief Audit Executive this role drives risk-based assurance and advisory engagements advances audit innovation facilitates transformational change throughout the enterprise and fosters collaboration across business areas to enhance the Kempers governance risk management and internal controls.

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead manage and coach the IT and Corporate Services audit teams ensuring effective execution of assurance and advisory engagements.

  • Develop and implement strategic IT and Corporate Services audit plans aligned with organizational priorities incorporating data analytics and innovative audit techniques.

  • Build strong collaborative relationships with executive management and business leaders within IT and Corporate Services by providing strong advice on internal control effectiveness and operational efficiency.

  • Evaluate audit results and present impactful recommendations to senior leadership and the Audit Committee.

  • Monitor industry trends emerging risks and regulatory changes impacting internal audit practices and business operations.

  • Manage vendor relationships for co-sourced audit functions and maintain a strong network within industry and professional associations.

  • Help set and execute the strategy and vision for the department.

Job Qualifications

  • Advanced degree such as Masters in Accounting Information Systems or Business Administration.

  • 12 years of professional experience preferably in internal audit public accounting or related field.

  • 4 years of management or leadership experience with a demonstrated ability to develop and influence teams.

  • Proven background in both IT and Financial auditing within the Financial Services or Insurance industries.

  • Strategic thinking with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

  • Excellent interpersonal negotiation and presentation skills.

  • Proficiency in internal auditing standards and governance frameworks.

  • Ability to manage complexity and drive transformation in a dynamic environment.

  • Familiarity with audit software and tools such as TeamMate Workiva ACL/Galvanize Power BI Tableau and AI-driven audit tools.

  • : One or more of the following preferred: CPA CIA CISA CFE CFA

  • Ability to travel up to 35% of the time.

  • This is a hybrid role and preferred locations are Dallas TX or Chicago IL

The range for this position is $147800 to $246300. When determining candidate offers we consider experience skills education certifications and geographic location among other factors. This job is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus and Kemper benefits (Medical Dental Vision PTO 401k etc.)
