About the role:

Reporting to the Senior Lead Water Management the Water Resource Scientist or Engineer is responsible for supporting site water management infrastructure data collection & QA/QC reporting requirements and tracking of water Key Performance Indicators. You will be directly involved in both short and long-term water management strategies through integration with Mine Planning and maintaining developing and executing water balance models.

To be successful in this role we are looking for someone with strong interpersonal written and verbal communication skills who is able to build and maintain positive relationships with partners across all levels of our organization. We require someone who has strong critical thinking and problem solving skills and demonstrated leadership and organizational skills.

In this role you will:

    • Participate in and adhere to health and safety programs and policies
    • Build updates of water planning related tools such as water balance model
    • Manage risks through effective implementation of site water management
    • Implement water management tools in alignment with long term site water management strategies and regulatory authorizations
    • Identify operational water supply needs water quality infrastructure risk and develop feasible mitigation in coordination with partners based on permitted mine life
    • Ensure regulatory commitments relating to Water Management Plans and Water Management Facilities are met
    • Provide technical editing of permitting applications and regulatory submissions
    • Complete capital budget planning for water projects and ensure project management standard methodologies are applied
    • Advise on surface water groundwater and hydrology monitoring programs
    • Prepare and review data and reports to meet regulatory and other commitments including presentation of technical information to a variety of audiences

Requirements:

    • Bachelors Degree in Engineering Geology Environmental Science or other related field
    • Relevant professional accreditation or eligible for accreditation such as the Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia (EGBC); EVR will support eligible employees with their EGBC registration
    • Experience in an industrial environment; experience in mining or oil and gas is an asset
    • Experience leading development and implementation of water management programs and risk evaluation of water quality and quantity
    • Technical knowledge of federal and provincial mining water practices and regulatory compliance
    • Experience developing water balances in GoldSim is an asset
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite: Excel PowerPoint and Word
    • Valid Class 5 Drivers License or equivalent
$106000 - $131000 a year
The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidates relevant experience skills and competencies and considers internal equity.
