Job Description
As part of the Here for You Guides pilot there is the opportunity for students to join the team as a Peer Guide.
Start Date:15/09/2025
End Date: 19/06/2026
Working Hours: 6 hours per week but hours are flexible
Pay Rate: 13.12 per hour plus holiday pay
Location: School of Psychology University Park
Dress Code: Casual
The Peer Guide will play a vital role in supporting fellow students as they transition into University life. As a final-year student or a postgraduate student they will work closely with the Academic Guide and the Student Advice Coordinator contributing to a multi-disciplinary team.
The Peer Guide will actively engage in developing activities that facilitate the smooth transition of students into University. They will serve as a point of contact for students seeking advice from a peer perspective.
Additionally they will maintain close contact with student societies and student union representatives.

- Currently enrolled as a final-year undergraduate student or a postgraduate student in the relevant School (Psychology).
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to engage with fellow students staff and interested parties.
- Strong organisational and time-management abilities to coordinate activities manage workload and meet deadlines.
- Demonstrated knowledge of EDI principles and cultural issues within a University setting.
- IT proficiency including proficiency in relevant software applications for record-keeping and communication purposes.
- Professionalism and the ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to safeguarding guidelines.
- Empathy approachability and the ability to provide guidance and support from a peer perspective.
- Active involvement in student societies or student union activities as desirable.
- Understanding of University systems and resources as well as the ability to navigate them effectively.
- Flexibility and adaptability to work with individuals of different backgrounds ages and roles within the University.
