Job Description

Job Duties

A. Performance Management (for employees who supervise others)
Serves in a managerial/supervisory capacity to conduct performance management activities and ensure onboarding/offboarding and training for staff
Establishes and reviews work assignments and priorities and implements performance improvement strategies and/or problem resolution for related issues in conjunction with program management and Human Resource staff
Ensures relevant training and workplace safety for staff
Conducts required performance monitoring and appraisals establishes clear performance expectations addresses deficiencies in a timely manner and documents underperformance in accordance with state guidelines
Supports employee growth through regular feedback coaching and professional development opportunities

B. Social Media & Website Support
Write review edit and update content for VDHs websites and social media channels
Contribute to shape and implement VDHs existing leading practices for social media and website content
Collaborate with Local Health Districts and VDH subject matter experts (SMEs) to develop social strategy and content
Use social media platforms to interact with users measure engagement and identify questions and/or complaints from the public; identify opportunities to influence public perception

C. Collaboration & Administration
Submit social media analytics report on a weekly basis
Create and maintain a social media content calendar
Supports the management and organization of all files related to social media posts comments messages etc. for public records and FOIA requests
Act as the point of contact across the organization for all facets of social and graphic content

D. Standardization
Drafts policies and procedures to manage social media requests across VDH
Collaborate with internal departments to establish uniformed processes around content creation
Work with graphic designers and subject matter experts to create branded content for social media posts and related advertising campaigns

Minimum Qualifications

Strong listening and communication skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively
Knowledge of search engine optimization and accessibility best practices
Experience creating strong engaging Web content
Excellent research organizational and time management skills
Professional experience in website management and social media content creation and community management

Additional Considerations

Proficient in using and analyzing data to understand engagement trends and drive content strategy
Skilled in using Google Analytics and Hootsuite
Demonstrated excellence in writing proofreading and editing
Experience with healthcare medical and/or government subject areas
Experience with Facebook X Instagram and other social media platforms

This is a restricted position that is funded by the Public Health Infrastructure Grant (PHIG). for a one-year period ending June 2026. The availability of funding is scheduled for review before the grant expiration and periodically thereafter. Continued employment is contingent on the continued availability of funds.
