Discover Impactful Work:
Provides system analysis of new laboratory instrumentation as well as maintenance of existinginstrumentation. Assists in the validation and qualification of laboratory instrumentation. Troubleshoots and repairs existing laboratory equipment and interacts with vendors and provides repair andmaintenance of analytical instrumentation. Supports laboratory personnel in meeting specific sponsortimelines regarding analytical results.
A Day in the Life:
Performs Performance Qualification (PQ) and repair on deployedinstrumentation.
Coordinates with Operations staff on deployment of instrumentation.
Performs unit system testing to include IQ (Installation Qualification) OQ
(Operation Qualification) and calibration; Performs validation testing as needed.
Assists in developing Standard Operating Procedures and testing procedures foremerging technologies and performance qualification (PQ) regiments for existingtechnologies.
Assists the installation of new instrumentation.
Provides basic operator training to end-users on analytical instrumentation.
Evaluates lab support records for compliance with SOPs reviews for
completeness and accuracy and reports findings.
Education and Experience:
Bachelors degree or equivalent and relevant formal academic / vocational qualification
Previous experience that provides the knowledge skills and abilities to perform the job (comparable to
5-8 years).
In some cases an equivalency consisting of a combination of appropriate education training and/or directly related experience will be considered sufficient for an individual to meet the requirements of the role.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
Working knowledge and understanding of laboratory equipment and foundations of troubleshooting
Knowledge of mass spectrometry liquid chromatography relational databases and other analytical
instrumentation operation
Working knowledge with systems in use at PPD or within the CRO/Pharmaceutical industry
Client focused approach with strong interpersonal skills
Strong analytical and problem solving skills
Ability to communicate effective with vendors clients and all levels of staff
Attention to detail and ability to multi-task
Ability to train others
Ability to work in a collaborative team environment
