The Service Team Leader (Automotive) is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the service department ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction efficiency in vehicle service delivery and effective team coordination. The role involves supervising service advisors technicians and support staff to ensure that all work is completed to manufacturer and safety standards on time and within budget.
Lead and coordinate the service team to deliver outstanding customer service and operational excellence.
Monitor and manage daily workflow ensuring vehicles are serviced promptly and efficiently.
Act as the primary point of contact for customer escalations ensuring timely and professional resolution.
Support Service Advisors in estimating job times costs and communicating clearly with customers.
Conduct regular team meetings and briefings to align on targets safety standards and procedures.
Oversee vehicle inspections diagnostics and quality checks to ensure high standards are met.
Manage job allocation and scheduling for technicians and apprentices based on skills and availability.
Track service KPIs such as CSI scores technician productivity and job profitability.
Train mentor and evaluate staff performance; support career development and certification where applicable.
Collaborate with parts warranty and sales departments to streamline service operations.
Ensure compliance with health and safety environmental and manufacturer regulations.
Previous experience in a supervisory or senior service advisor role in the automotive industry.
Strong understanding of automotive servicing processes and technical knowledge of vehicles.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Ability to lead and motivate a team in a fast-paced workshop environment.
Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
