The Conservation Programs Heritage and Regulation Group (CPHR) is a part of the NSW Department of Climate Change Energy the Environment and Water (DCCEEW).

The Office of the Deputy Secretary is currently seeking to temporarily appoint a Policy Officer with possibility of conversation to ongoing. The role provides a key point of coordination across CPHR to coordinate and manage Deputy Secretary approvals including Ministerial Cabinet and Parliamentary briefings to ensure that the Deputy Secretary has the information required to make informed and timely decisions.

About You

To be successful in this role you must have:

  • Experience in providing high level coordination services to manage requests for information from senior executives Ministers Offices other parts of the agency other government agencies and the public and coordinate timely informed and well-constructed responses.
  • Ability to review and deliver high quality advice such as briefing notes submissions reports meeting papers Ministerial Cabinet and Parliamentary products to meet required quality and accuracy standards and timeframes.
  • Excellent communication skills including the ability to express information clearly and succinctly.
  • Ability to build and maintain stakeholder relationships.
  • Demonstrated organisational and time management skills with proven capacity to work collaboratively and manage and prioritise workflow

Essential Requirements

  • Understanding of the machinery of Government and the policy process or demonstrated ability to acquire knowledge quickly.

Participation in the NSW Biodiversity Offsets Scheme (BOS) & BCTs Private Land Conservation (PLC) Programs

All new employees with an existing defined interest in the BOS will be required to disclose their personal (or a close family members) participation to ensure potential conflicts are managed appropriately. In some circumstances this may require divestment of the interest.

The BCT also has restrictions on staff participation in its funded PLC programs. No additional funding beyond that already agreed to by the BCT may be sought or approved during time as a BCT employee or for a 12-month period following termination of employment.
