Summary Scope of RoleThe Banquet Supervisor is responsible for serving guests at the level of service established by management. Assist Banquet Manager in supervising the banquet staff at all stages of a function from set-up to breakdown. Primary ResponsibilitiesTo perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. - Meet with the Chef or Sous Chef to confirm quantities of food items and timing of food leaving the kitchen.
- Check all China glassware silverware and linen items needed for the event.
- Inform kitchen and banquet staff of specific needs for buffets and receptions.
- Assist Banquet Manager in checking staffing and inventory needs for upcoming events.
- Allocate stations and partners for staff as directed by Banquet Manager.
- Review banquet event orders with Banquet Manager.
- Communicate with the meeting planner and sales staff handling the function to ensure all needs have been met and to check for any last-minute instructions or changes.
- Communicate deficiencies in service to hotel management to achieve customer satisfaction.
- Be aware of all upcoming groups and major conventions over the upcoming 90 days.
- Review assigned work functions for the entire day and the next week.
- Read all assigned banquet menus and ask if specific items are unclear.
- Complete all daily administrative tasks as assigned by Banquet Manager.
- Select several tables at random during the function to evaluate food and service.
- Ensure that food is served at the appropriate temperature and that the entre is placed properly on the table.
- For receptions ensure sufficient food is available and any upselling opportunities are met.
- All other duties as assigned.
Secondary Responsibilities- Responsible for the proper handling of all equipment i.e. china glassware silverware linen and props ensuring proper storage after use.
- Inform Chef of the head count as soon as possible.
- Recommend proper maintenance and repair for Engineering and ensure the proper housekeeping of all function spaces.
- Ensure service standards are met.
Supervisory Responsibilities- The Banquet Supervisor reports directly to the Banquet Manager and has a limited scope of responsibility based on the function of the position.
Experience and Education- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in food and beverage service or related required.
- Experience in banquet setting required.
Competencies / Skills / Abilities- Must be able to speak read write and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace.
- Knowledge of and ability to use Microsoft applications (Outlook Excel Word etc.).
- Ability to supervise subordinate staff including but not limited to assignment of duties evaluating service and taking disciplinary action when necessary.
- Ability to prepare and analyze data figures and transcriptions prepared on and generated by computer.
- Knowledge of hotel food and beverage operations.
- Knowledge of food and alcoholic beverages.
- Budgetary analysis capabilities required.
- Knowledge of food service techniques and cost controls such as manpower productivity food cost and other expenses
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of computer accounting programs math skills as well as budgetary analysis capabilities.
- Thorough working knowledge of labor costs and cost-saving procedures.
- Maintain a friendly and professional demeanor contributing to a positive guest experience and team environment.
- Adapt to changing circumstances and guest needs with flexibility and composure.

Schedule Opportunities- Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel.
- Full-Time 40-50 hours per week based on business need.
