Job Description
Oversee daily operations of steam boilers chillers turbines generators and future CHP systems
Supervise and mentor a team of unionized plant operators fostering skill growth and collaboration
Maintain shift schedules payroll overtime distribution and compliance documentation
Lead training programs on plant systems safety protocols and operational best practices
Coordinate maintenance shutdowns and repairs using CMMS tools
Monitor system performance and implement strategies to optimize energy efficiency
Collaborate with engineering maintenance and external utility partners to meet plant goals
Ensure full compliance with safety regulations and environmental standards
Respond during emergency events including hurricanes storms and other disruptions
High school diploma or GED required
Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience in utilities HVAC energy chemical or industrial environments
Strong leadership and communication skills in unionized settings
Technical expertise in boilers chillers cooling towers RO systems switchgear and CHP systems
Experience with HMI systems water lab testing and safe chemical handling
Familiarity with OSHA EPA and other regulatory frameworks
Ability to analyze performance data and drive operational improvements
Universal EPA refrigerant certification preferred or ability to obtain
