NCDOTs TSMO Unit currently has an opening for a Program Coordinator II.This position with NCDOT offers fullState Benefits competitive salaries and many career development opportunities.
The Transportation Systems Management Operations (TSMO) Unit is responsible for planning design operations and maintenance of traffic signals and Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) on the State highway system. This position manages all administrative and personnel functions provides financial and procurement assistance for daily and emergency needs assists with tracking monitoring and reporting expenditures for the TSMO and Signal Maintenance budgets supervises a temporary admin position and serves as a backup for personnel and administration activities for the Mobility and Safety Division. This position involves consulting with four (4) managers twelve (12) supervisors and forty-six (46) engineers and technicians and over eighty-five (85) embedded contractors in carrying out responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide administrative support to the Unit Head and staff including contractors.
- Process all human resource actions for the unit and answer questions relating to human resources.
- Review and process all payroll related activities and travel expenses for the unit.
- Assist with management of the statewide budgets.
- Serve as the unit procurement liaison and consult with vendors.
- Oversee fixed asset and vehicle management.
- Collaborate with other staff within the division on projects.
The program area for this position includes one or more of the following: working knowledge of the Transportation Systems Management and Operations business processes working knowledge of NCDOT human resources processes working knowledge of working knowledge of state budget processes and procedures and/or working knowledge of fixed asset policies and procedures.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities / Competencies
Applicants must submit an application that clearly reflects work experience that demonstrates the following:
- Experience with the state of NC human resources and travel policies and systems.
- Experience with fixed asset management and time administration using SAP.
- Experience maintaining a budget and purchasing procedures.
- Experience with Microsoft Office using programs such as Word Excel and Outlook.
- Demonstrated ability coordinating and monitoring office and documentation workflow.
Additional Requirements
Applicant must be able to legally operate a state vehicle for travel between the unit office locations in Garner and Raleigh.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelors degree from appropriately accredited institution and one year of experience related to the area of assignment; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
