Position Title: Manager of Security and Emergency Management

Summary:
The Manager of Security and Emergency Management supports the Director in executing and maintaining district-wide safety security and emergency preparedness efforts. This position assists in coordinating responses to critical incidents managing school security systems facilitating staff training and serving as a liaison to local emergency services. The manager plays a key role in ensuring safe learning environments across Aiken County Public Schools.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists in assessing the districts security and emergency readiness and implement improvements under the direction of the Director.
- Responds to school incidents and emergencies; coordinates with local law enforcement fire and EMS services as needed.
- Supports school-level investigations of safety or criminal incidents in collaboration with the Director and law enforcement.
- Monitors and maintains district security technology including cameras alarms and communication systems.
- Coordinates logistics and operations for school safety drills and ensure compliance with local/state/federal requirements.
- Conducts routine safety and security audits of schools and facilities; document findings and assists with follow-up actions.
- Help to track and analyze incidents and trends related to school safety; assist in preparing reports and recommendations.
- Serves as a liaison for school safety monitors and assist with the School Resource Officer program in conjunction with law enforcement.
- Participates in planning and executing crisis response trainings for school staff.
- Supports the development and revision of school crisis plans and the district-wide emergency response plan.
- Assists in coordinating emergency preparedness efforts related to weather events or district-wide threats.
- Maintains records of drills trainings and incidents as required.
- Provides timely communication and updates to the Director and other district leaders.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Security and Emergency Management or other district administrators.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma Emergency Management or related field (preferred).
- Experience in public safety law enforcement or school security.
- Prior experience in K-12 or public agency settings preferred.
- Experience with emergency operations crisis planning or school safety practices is strongly desired.
Certificates Licenses Registrations:
- Valid drivers license with an acceptable driving record.
Skills and Abilities:
Language Skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to write clear reports maintain documentation and present safety information effectively.
Mathematical Skills
- Basic math proficiency including ability to track and interpret incident statistics.
Reasoning Ability
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Ability to respond quickly and appropriately in emergency situations.
Other Skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word Excel PowerPoint).
- Familiarity with school security systems and emergency communication tools.
- Ability to build collaborative relationships with law enforcement school administrators and the public.
Physical Demands
- Regularly required to sit talk hear walk and stand.
- Frequent visits to schools and district sites; must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Must be available to respond to emergencies after hours as needed.
Work Environment
- Office and school settings; may encounter various environmental conditions.
- Quiet to moderate noise levels; frequent public and staff interaction.
- Must be able to manage competing demands and function under pressure during emergencies.

12 months
Level117 Pay Scale
The terms of employment detailed in this job description are based on full time employment during an entire school year. Conditions of employment are adjusted for part time employees or individuals who are hired for less than an entire school year.
Evaluation
Performance will be evaluated annually by the Director of Security and Emergency Management in accordance with Board policy.
