Job Description

Summary

This position involves the development implementation and oversight of cultural resource management programs and policies ensuring adherence to federal state and local regulationsSafeguards and ensures NYPA meets its regulatory obligations and requirements as it pertains to a wide variety of cultural resources issues. Obligations include archeology historic architecture historic preservation and construction practices. Ensures the Authority remains in compliance and good standing with National State Local Historic Preservation Groups and Native American Nations. #LI-VB1

Responsibilities

  • Assist in conducting basic research and surveys related to archeology historic architecture historic preservation and construction practices.
  • Support the implementation of compliance requirements for cultural resources in projects.
  • Assist in assessing potential impacts on cultural resources and contribute to the development of mitigation strategies.
  • Collaborate with team members and stakeholders to ensure adherence to regulations and best practices.
  • Assist in producing cultural resource documents that present research and analysis results.
  • Provide support in ensuring compliance with Federal historic preservation laws and regulations.
  • Assist in implementing best management practices at NYPAs facilities considering study findings and permit provisions.
  • Support the coordination and maintenance of relationships with regulatory agencies National State Local Historic Preservation Groups and Native American Nations.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Basic knowledge of federal state and local environmental health and safety regulations.
  • Familiarity with cultural resources compliance requirements historic preservation laws and environmental impact assessment.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in an operating and/or construction environment.
  • Basic project management and planning skills; ability to assist with contractual matters and consultant work efforts.
  • Basic analytical and problem-solving skills for assessing potential impacts on cultural resources and supporting mitigation strategies.
  • Good communication skills to effectively convey regulations and issues to stakeholders.
  • Basic proficiency in conducting research surveys and reviews related to cultural resources compliance.
  • Ability to provide support for environmental and cultural resources compliance.
  • Basic organizational and time management skills to handle tasks and deadlines.
  • Ability to establish and maintain professional relationships with regulatory agencies and stakeholders.
  • Ability to work effectively as a member of a team.

Education Experience and Certifications

  • Bachelors degree required;
  • Minimum 2 years of related experience preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of federal and state approval processes preferred.

Physical Requirements

Up to 30% travel primarily within NY State.
