Job Description
This is a remote position.
Our client is looking for a z/OS Mainframe Systems Specialist to join their infrastructure team. This role involves comprehensive management of enterprise mainframe environments encompassing system administration software deployment and operational excellence within a sysplex configuration. The position also requires expertise in Control-D workflow management solutions.
System Operations & Maintenance:
Ensure optimal performance and availability of z/OS mainframe infrastructure and associated applications
Diagnose and resolve intermediate-level technical issues conducting thorough root cause analysis
Collaborate with technology vendors for troubleshooting initiatives and implement recommended solutions while providing necessary diagnostic data
Monitor critical system performance indicators proactively to identify enhancement opportunities
Technical Implementation:
Deploy and configure third-party mainframe applications and related updates
Process and fulfill user access provisioning requests
Execute documented testing protocols and deployment procedures
Requirements
Comprehensive knowledge of z/OS mainframe architecture within sysplex configurations (mandatory)
Minimum 5 years in mainframe operations and support roles
Solid grasp of IT infrastructure system fundamentals
Working knowledge of z-series hardware architecture
Proficiency in at least one programming language (Assembler COBOL REXX or SAS)
Competency with JCL TSO/ISPF and SDSF utilities
Experience with BMC Control-D workflow management platforms
Understanding of business continuity and disaster recovery principles

Strong problem-solving and analytical capabilities
