About the Role:

As theArchivist Digital Preservation & Systems youll safeguard digital cultural heritage at theintersection of technology archives and Indigenous governance. Your work will ensure theintegrity accessibility and ethical stewardshipof Aboriginal collections in a rapidly evolving digital landscape.

Working at the intersection oftechnology archives and Indigenous governance you will:

  • Design and implementcutting-edge digital preservation systemsaligned withIndigenous Data Sovereignty (IDS&G) and Cultural Intellectual Property (ICIP) principles.
  • Collaborate withAboriginal Knowledge Holdes IT specialists and archiviststo develop sustainable culturally grounded solutions for long-term preservation.
  • Leadmetadata management risk assessment and system integrationto protect digitised and born-digital materials.
  • Mentor and train stakeholders inculturally sensitive digital preservation practices building capacity across the AHA.

This is a full time 2-years fixed term position at an HEP 7 classification with the salary range being $97863 - $105932 per annum plus 17% superannuation working 36.75 (1.0 FTE) hours per week.

About You

We are looking for atechnically skilled archivistwith a passion forlong-term preservation and Indigenous cultural stewardship. You thrive wheretechnical expertise meets community collaboration balancing precision with cultural accountability.

You will bring:

  • Technical proficiency:Experience indigital preservationworkflows including file formats metadata standards and risk management strategies for long-term access.
  • Systems expertise: Skills indigital asset management systems database administration and IT infrastructure for archives.
  • Project leadership: Ability toprioritise competing demands solve technical challenges and deliver high-quality outcomes on time.
  • Relationship-building: Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders from IT teams to Aboriginal community representatives.

Highly desirable:

  • Experience applyingIDS&G principlesin archival or digital collection contexts.
  • A track record ofcollaborating with Indigenous communitiesto align practices with cultural protocols and self-determination goals.
  • A commitment tomentoring othersin digital preservation best practices.

Most importantly you understand that this work is aboutrespect accountability and ensuring Aboriginal knowledge endures with integrity.
