Job Description

Pay Grade/Pay Range:Minimum: $56600 - Midpoint: $73600 (Salaried E9)

Department/Organization:850101 - Student Involvement

Normal Work Schedule:Monday - Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm; some evenings & weekends.

Job Summary:The Assistant Director of Student Organization Development supports the members and leaders of the 600 registered student organizations at the University. Oversees the Universitys student event registration process. Coordinates operations for The Trunk. Oversees the offices training opportunities for student organizations. Manages the office marketing and communications efforts for the dissemination of information/services. Coordinates a variety of office events and programs. Oversees the offices mediation/conflict resolution process for student organizations.

Additional Department Summary:Serves as a vital member of the professional team tasked with supporting the promotion and vision of a student population who is engaged and learning to cultivate passion in their area of future influence through organization leadership and campus involvement. Manages coordination of student organization events including demonstrations and high-profile or special events requiring enhanced support security and risk mitigation while ensuring compliance with campus procedures and policies (i.e.- grounds use free speech spontaneous expression etc.). Oversees the offices mediation/conflict resolution process for student organizations. Additionally this position coordinates honor society selections and serves as the primary advisor to the Coordinating Council for Honor Societies. Has personal accountability for financial reporting and responsibility for establishing enforcing and following internal processes and controls as outlined in UA policies and procedures. Holds staff accountable for completion of required training. Completes required training and promoting a safe hospitable and respectful workplace.

Required Minimum Qualifications:Bachelors degree and four (4) years of student life/student affairs experience; OR masters degree and two (2) years of student life/student affairs experience.

Skills and Knowledge:Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the role of students and student development. Ability to advise teach and coach University students. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills. Ability to work with sensitive and confidential information. Strong prioritization and multitasking skills including ability to manage multiple priorities and willingness to adjust personal schedule to needs of programming and the necessity to observe participate in and evaluate programs. Excellent analytical skills including the ability to gather and analyze complex data and situations in order to draw valid conclusions and make appropriate recommendations. Excellent customer service skills and ability to deal effectively with the public students faculty staff alumni and external agencies. Ability to recruit hire supervise train schedule and evaluate professional and student staff. Proficiency with computers and basic software applications. Demonstrated commitment to supporting all students.

Preferred Qualifications:Masters degree in Higher Education Administration and three (3) years of professional experience in student programming/activities advising student groups and organizations student involvement and other student-oriented activities. Graduate or professional experience in student programming/activities advising student groups and organizations student involvement and other student-oriented activities. Experience working within a higher education (university or college) environment. Personnel management experience. Experience in budget development and monitoring. Experience in student programming outreach and student leadership development;
